I have a Shiba Inu/fox mix that does fit back there but I usually let her sit up front to enjoy the window and I usually let my King Charles Cav lay in the back but he's such a lap dog that hes all over the place when i'm driving. There's so many different types of dog breeds and each has their own tempermant and charateristics its hard to pick the right one, But my Shiba is very independent. We found her in the wild so she does fine being by herself for long periods of time, but at the same time is very affectionate... well when she wants to be lol. O and she's JDM too!

When we first got her she was about a year old, it was hard to tell cuz she was a rescue, and she's pretty awesome I posted a pic of her on the dog thread. I wouldn't really say she's stubborn but since we didn't get her as a puppy it was kinda hard to train her as easily as you would a younger dog, she likes to run so the few times she gotten out I had all the kids from the neighbor hood helping me chase her around lol but overall I'd say they're awesome, they have lots of energy and are SUPER smart, sometimes I wonder what she would say if she would talk

My Boston Terrier rides shotgun wherever I go. Only downfall is all the little white hairs that get into the nice black interior... But she is my girl...so my car is her car....I would never ...ever put my dog in the trunk...thats just mean IMO

What is mean about about letting a dog ride in the back? Unless it is a big dog, there should be plenty of room.

I have 2 labs, average size...once's 60 pounds the other is 70 pounds. Once while I was installing my audio system my dog climbed into the footwell and managed to fit so for kicks I let them climb in the trunk to see if they would fit there. Each of them could individually fit back there, but I would never actually drive with either of them like that.
2 reasons. One, the space isn't really big enough. A full size lab most certainly would have to lay down and not move at all for the entire ride. This just seems unnecessarily cruel. Secondly, it's not even remotely safe. If you were to get into an accident, especially in the rear of your car, there is a very real and fairly significant possibility that you are going to kill your dog. Please don't do this. Labs are awesome dogs and I highly recommend getting one, but do the right thing and get a harness so your dog can enjoy the ride too! If you're worried about your interior a passenger side seat cover or even a blanket should protect it pretty well, though with a larger dog you'll be forever cleaning nose prints off your windows. Best of luck! |

My dachshund fits fine, but he's only 13 lbs. He's about 5 inches longer than my shoes and those are size 14s in the back! I doubt you'd want to get a normal sized dog if you expect to drive 'em around in a Z.

I guess it just depends on the dog (size, temperament, &c) and how far you are going. I wouldn't want to keep a large dog cooped up back there for more than a few minutes but a mini/toy might have enough room for a cross-country trip.
My ACD is rather high-strung and, even though she would fit, she wouldn't be (mentally) comfortable. Plus, I can't think of a good way to get her back there without scratching the paint or interior. The ACD I had back around the turn of the century was much calmer and would probably have done just fine.
