They had over a year to build the car and a seemingly blank check.

Boeing builds a 747 in 4-5 months from start to finish...

I think it's a case of poor time management and milking the customer for all they could get. Then when the customer wised up they panicked and threw stuff together.

That or they were totally incompetent and/or lazy. They also had a lot of turnover during this "build", which should say something else about the company too.

nah dont worry. i read both sides and yea i can see where both can be wrong and right. after reading that the guy with the busted GTR from them and that he rushed into the turbo upgrad with RHD designed JUN turbo kit i can see why that work was so botched. but then again if youre that big of a shop and do this work a lot i think you could do a better job than what they did.

soooo in the end they are both wrong and made mistakes. neither one handled it correctly but also this isnt the topic of the thread

While I know the price #'s were inflated (Really, who is stupid enough to drop that kind of cash into an $80k car in the means that his story portrays?).

Sharif "disputes" the time frame, yet never gives one of his own.

Was this an "orchestrated take down by TSM"? Who knows, maybe, but it seems a bit childish.

The pictures don't lie about the shoddy work, but then again - it could have been done by someone else and pictures taken after then...

I don't know, the whole thing that gets to me is this "time frame" situation. It shouldn't take that long to get a build like this done. If it was, say, bring it in for the weekend, do some work, take it back, and so on... yes I could understand. But he said, "Here are the keys!" and just left it. Three months, tops is what I would expect (unless the parts are truly back ordered, then again - still wouldn't be over a year).

All in all, Forged has had its reputation tarnished. If it was done by TSM, then it was successful. Though, I'm hoping it wasn't, because if it gets out that it was - TSM is thoroughly ******.

Shoddy work is shoddy work.

Most of the rest of the handling is actually pretty good for the car industry. Customer service is generally terrible (compared to what folks are used to) on anything close to a large build.

If you want it done right, do it yourself.
If you want it done fast, do it yourself.

After reading and typing all of that, I opened my mind up a bit and can see where you're coming from, edub.

However, a lot of what is being said is hearsay and we can only go by what was provided (time frame and photo's).

Thankfully, I don't think I'll ever have to make the decision of which of these companies to use as 1) I'm on the other side of the continent and 2) I don't think I'm ever going to do anything this significant to my vehicle (present or future).

Yay for me!

The GTR owner never once claimed he spent 250K on the build, Jalopnik and other folks that failed to read the thread are the only people claiming that.

I guarantee you that if I do it myself it won't be right or fast.

I don't have that kind of knowledge or patience to do something like this.

Plus... it's my DD, so I couldn't.

Then again it's all moot, because I don't have that kind of cash to throw around (yet).

I'm buying a damn lottery ticket tonight.

He (the owner) did state that he's spent $250k on the entire build, which includes the previous work done by Forged.

It was in his original post.

I haven't gone back to that thread for a few days, though I've heard there's been a lot of "clean up" going on, so who knows what's been changed now.

jalopnik somehow provided great info and terrible info all at once. clearly some corners were cut with the workmanship, and clearly the owner made some bad mid-build decisions, but neither is completely in the wrong here. i say those 2 should kiss and make up
