5D cru holla

can't go wrong with either side really OP, however, from everything i've read the D90 is a better, more entry user friendly camera compared to the D5000, even tho they do basically the same thing, have basically the same specs, the D90 is set up to be easier to get better pictures starting out. also i've heard the image quality is a little superior. but this is just what i've read on the forums. for what it's worth a good used D200 nikon or 30D canon will take you really far. it's more about the lenses than the body. as long as it has the features you want (live view, video, etc). also, try them out in person at a best buy or camera store nearby. if you are still on the fence you can rent a camera body and lens from lensrentals.com from each brand to decide but that would get pretty pricey...

So confuse there's so many choices I'm interested in the 2 new camera D5000 and t1i just cause I like new but the d90 is alot better and it's a mid lvl slr not like the other to is for beginner. Plus it should be under 1000 for me cause Ima get 15 percent off for applying for a credit card well I mean my wife is gonna get 15 I got my 15 when I bought my big screen hehe

That wouldnt be a star card would it? I got 15% off my MacBook that way. As for an SLR in Canons pro-sumer line up, you could look at a 40D or 50D, are you shopping at the NEX? I just got their catalog and they have sooo much beter stuff in there than at the stores. I would say that for entry level consumer models Nikon has Canon beat, but when you get into the pro-sumer (mid level) and above catagory Canon takes the lead and holds it. Any particular type of picture youll be taking or just a bit of everything?

another really good site is Digital Camera Reviews and News: Digital Photography Review: Forums, Glossary, FAQ they have very through reviews, pretty unbiased as well, of all major cameras and eve some of the obscure ones. i too think you get more for your money with canon usually, especially lenses. seems like canon's lenses tend to be about 10-20% less than their nikon counterparts usually... not always but most of the time and that helps

Nikon D50 here. As stated you should research lenses, not just the camera. I will challenge any of these Canon boys to a bargain lens duel. My f1.8 50mm versus whatever you got in the price range.

Canon makes a nifty fifty too, 50mm f1.8, although I upgraded to the f1.4 and never looked back
