Very nice speakers, I was looking at them about a year ago. My biggest thing is I have to get more bass this 50 watt sub does the job for music but not for movies.

I know people always rave about the dr. hsu subs.. i thinks that how it's spelled.. i've honestly never tried them though.. the abyss is more than enough for what i'd use it for.. and thats in conjunction with a sub I already had

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 01:30 PM

Well it is hard to find a sub that will do tight accurate bass and than rumble the whole room on a movie. I have been looking at the klipsch RSW-10d or the RW-12d subs and also the Premier Acoustic PA-120. I have heard Mirage is good.

I also just came across this.

THX Home Theater Subwoofer Layout

I am interested about what it says about rear speakers. I always figured to place them on the left and right side aimed at you. Not side by side firing. I might have to try that out.

Togo 11-13-2009 01:33 PM

those klipsch subs are quite nice

Yamaha V2700 Receiver
Def Tech BP7001SC Fronts
Def Tech CLR3000 Center
Def Tech BPVX Surround
Def Tech Super Cube Sub
Yamaha RX-V2700 Receiver
Samsung 65" DLP

That's it in a nut shell

Togo 11-13-2009 01:34 PM

looking at a 5.1 or 7.1 setup for the rears?

theDreamer 11-13-2009 01:34 PM

I hate suggesting it, but everyone has one near them, go to a Best Buy and test speakers.
They do have plenty to test and this is what I take:
~3 CDs (classic, rock, heavy)
~DVD (Depending on the setup at the BB, you can test a good DVD with the speaker setup)

After Best Buy I would start searching for some smaller home theater shops that have show rooms, they will stock other brands (both cheaper & more expensive).
