I agree 100% if you have a larger room.

Togo 11-13-2009 01:38 PM

the other problem with best buy over a small audio shop is the customers in Best Buy are allowed to play with the product and they move speakers and change settings on the receivers which often times really really really screws things up

I agree though.. go to like a Tweeters etc and demo in their show rooms.. really nice.

Sadly tweeter closed last year that hurt me badly. But that is also how my neighbor got his LSi 25's for 900 bucks for the set plus the center!

That sucks, then you might want to hit up some smaller shops and see what listening rooms they have. Though some I have been to have basically 5,000USD per speaker setups only, which his fun to test and a blast to talk to the owner but waaay out of my price range.

Damn you, I was testing some gear in a Houston store (only one with working DefTech) and has to spent 30 minutes to get all the settings corrected on a receiver. :p

Oh ya, we had one opened 4 months ago it was a HT specialist and than closed about 9 weeks ago. I do not make this stuff up I like in the open and closing area. It blows!!

i'd always set up the ML speakers everyday so they would be properly positioned for demos but after a while you're just like screw it.. why bother anymore.. you know?

LOL ya I know what you mean. But at age 15 I was starting to understand things about audio, and now look lol. Sometimes I have to shake my head at some of the best buy guys. Trying to sell me monster cable now come on! HAHA oh boy what can of worms did I just open up. :wtf2:

lol oh i know.. some of the people i worked with were just tools when it came to this ****. it was funny though cause i had a couple people come in and speak to me and after a little while left saying i was the first and only knowledgeable person they met in BBs HT dept.. hahaha

One guy asked me what speakers were my fav, ML naturally, and he started asking me different things about them, to which he already knew the answer but just wanted to see how much I knew. He said I was the first associate that even knew where the name came from (it's the middle names of the two founders).

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 01:59 PM

I did not know that lol, but ya I know what you mean. What do you use for your music apple tv?

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 02:01 PM

Also what is your thoughts on putting your rear speaker side by side like in that THX speaker diagram?

Togo 11-13-2009 02:05 PM

you mean having them positioned on either side of the couch like in their 5.1 diagram.. thats what my set up will be.

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 02:06 PM

No, if you look at the 7.1 diagram it shows the rear speakers behind you directly side by side.

http://www.thx.com/home/setup/speakers/back.html

I am guessing they say do that because your surrounds are taking care of the side rear fill.

Togo 11-13-2009 02:11 PM

eh seems just like a 6.1 setup to me. don't see the point then really..

FuszNissan 11-13-2009 02:13 PM

6.1 ftw!!

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 02:13 PM

Ya, but I am not sure. I use to have a creative 6.1 setup for my computer and that was not bad. If that is the case about just pairing your rear speakers like a center there is no point to having 7.1.

Exactly.. in that configuration i don't see the point.

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 02:18 PM

But than again who are we to argue with THX or Lucius lol

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 02:25 PM

Incredible picture quality! Yes, full 1080p (or even 1080i) is amazing! My satellite provider has almost 100 HD channels.... I'm having fun! (I had only "farmer vision" ie: over the air and only 5 channels :shakes head: ) The audio is also amazing. I couldn't quite do the exact surround sound set-up, but it's real close.

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 02:57 PM

So please tell me your using directv right? They are getting ready to go over 200 HD channels!

No, Direct TV is not available in western Canada. I'm using Bell Express-Vu and they've just changed all their HD channels. They've added a wack more and re-aligned their channel set-up. I think that they're trying to deal Shaw's satellite service the final "death blow" by expanding their HD line-up. They're kicking Shaw's a$$.

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 03:10 PM

Never heard of either lol

bigaudiofanat 11-17-2009 07:22 PM

My music and movie collection. 125 movies are in that case.

Togo 11-22-2009 05:11 PM

Good deal Matt!

bigaudiofanat 11-22-2009 05:18 PM

Ya I was not expecting them to have the same deal as they have for black Friday. I have no argument over it.
