There might be a few other things I'm forgetting but yeah that's the gist of it. The Receiver is 140 WPC but only powers the rears. The front Center (Feature) and Front Towers (Puritys) are self powered with internal 200W amps.

I must see pictures of this... you basically have the big brother to my setup.

Its an amazing system. I'll take some pictures when I set it all up. :D

I tried the Purity Towers in my living room and they had to narrow of a sweet spot to be truly appreciated. They were AMAZING sitting down, but the imaging was all but lost when you stood up. This is typical of all electrostat panels. I had purchased Montages as rears and decided to move the up front as an experiment. It was almost exactly what I was looking for- superior sound, and more importantly- the wife compromised on the smaller footprint.

Ultimately, I ended up toning things down- it is our living room and not a dedicated theater room so it all works out. I've got Montage's up front, Fresco i as the center, Dynamo sub, and vignettes as rears. Pioneer Elite Panel, Denon receiver, panamax conditioner- Harmony 890, PS3 and FIOS round out the fun. All and all I've been very happy.

Thats a nice set-up, I thought about going a similar route to you but I figured I may only get the chance to go this big once in life so I had better do it now. I've always been a huge fan of the electrostat panels beginning with the ML Clarity. I thought about a couple other speakers, Definitive Technology super towers and Vienna Acoustics, but ultimately my love for the ML sound won over. I love how directional they are but I always sit in the same spot to watch TV, movies, and music. I don't much care about the sound quality throughout the house for entertaining purposes because in all honesty, no one else is really going to notice anyways. :D

I'll post up some pics as soon as I have everything placed but it will be a while most likely because I'll be moving soon depending on a job opportunity. :)

theDreamer 10-13-2009 06:47 PM

Depending on your budget you might be able to get a solid 40 or even 46 inch television. Last year the pinnacle sale size was 40" and rumors are they might bump it up to 46 this year to help drive some sales.

I will say this, come November 1st I will probably start a BF thread to help people find items and help them decide if something is actually a BF deal.

molamann 10-13-2009 06:49 PM

My lease in my apt is up in about 10 months so only thing I have hooked up to my 40" LCD is my PS3 and my cable box.

bigaudiofanat 10-13-2009 06:54 PM

Well my budget will be like 500-650 for a tv. I use to have a dynex and with a BR player it looked amazing. So that is what I am going to try to get this year. I had to take back that tv for christmas budget for other gifts. So watching the polar express sucked after that lol.

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 11:18 AM

Here is mine

Pioneer Elite VSX-56TXi "soon" Comming next week like monday
Infinity 2000.5 Towers
JBL Center
Polk Monitor 40 Rears
Polk PSW10 Sub

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 12:08 PM

Nice place to be lol. Just something about sitting outside at 2 in the morning is exciting to me. Even if I do not walk away with a tv I will still get some good stuff.

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 01:00 PM

I use to work at sears so I know the feeling. I remember the managers doing rock paper scissors to see who would open the door. I just wnat to get my HT done for a while so I can enjoy it to the full potential.

Very nice speakers, I was looking at them about a year ago. My biggest thing is I have to get more bass this 50 watt sub does the job for music but not for movies.

I know people always rave about the dr. hsu subs.. i thinks that how it's spelled.. i've honestly never tried them though.. the abyss is more than enough for what i'd use it for.. and thats in conjunction with a sub I already had

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 01:30 PM

Well it is hard to find a sub that will do tight accurate bass and than rumble the whole room on a movie. I have been looking at the klipsch RSW-10d or the RW-12d subs and also the Premier Acoustic PA-120. I have heard Mirage is good.

I also just came across this.

THX Home Theater Subwoofer Layout

bigaudiofanat 11-13-2009 01:33 PM

I am interested about what it says about rear speakers. I always figured to place them on the left and right side aimed at you. Not side by side firing. I might have to try that out.

Togo 11-13-2009 01:33 PM

those klipsch subs are quite nice

FuszNissan 11-13-2009 01:33 PM

Yamaha V2700 Receiver
Def Tech BP7001SC Fronts
Def Tech CLR3000 Center
Def Tech BPVX Surround
Def Tech Super Cube Sub
Yamaha RX-V2700 Receiver
Samsung 65" DLP

That's it in a nut shell

Togo 11-13-2009 01:34 PM

looking at a 5.1 or 7.1 setup for the rears?

theDreamer 11-13-2009 01:34 PM

I hate suggesting it, but everyone has one near them, go to a Best Buy and test speakers.
They do have plenty to test and this is what I take:
~3 CDs (classic, rock, heavy)
~DVD (Depending on the setup at the BB, you can test a good DVD with the speaker setup)

After Best Buy I would start searching for some smaller home theater shops that have show rooms, they will stock other brands (both cheaper & more expensive).

I am not sure yet. I know the Blue Rays are 7.1 so I am looking towards that but than again I have been with 5.1 for a while. I think 7.1 is what I would go with in the future because that is what my elite can do. But as of right now I think 5.1

5.1, 7.1 isn't worth it and you won't tell the difference

7.1 is only worth it if you have a dedicated theater room, and a big one in my opinion.. which is why i'm 5.1..

Except mine, it is so small they only have speakers on shelf's. the closest one that has a room is about 50 minutes from me. :shakes head: But hey I go there sometimes.
