the DW's last a long time. that's a problem for me cause it's a mediocre tire for my driving needs (on my weds). not bad, just not great.

same deal with my G. ive had that car for 9yrs now, not once have i felt her hydroplane. ive driven it through heavy rain too on the expressway. S03, RE050A, S04, Pilots, etc. and even icey conditons using LM60's.

either their tread is low, psi is setup wrong, suspension is setup all wrong, using cruise control in the rain, etc.
it happened to me last year about a 2 weeks after i got the car. Got caught in a torrential downpour. I slowed way down, like 35 or 40...meh. Not slow enough. I was gliding . Immediately let off gas. Coasted until i felt tires grip again i about crapped my pants and my heart was pounding. Sh1t sh1t sh1t is what was going through my mind. There was prob about an inch or so of water running across road ...yea. Scary.

wow! congrats to your brother. so, is he going to work for Boeing?

yep, i dont mess around in my Z. people think i baby the car cause i QD her all the time and garage kept, but i drive the car the way she was meant to be driven when i do take her out. i rarely get over 7-8k miles on summer tires.
i have over 14k on my OEM Potenzas. Obviously i drive like an old lady too.

msbc- yah, when the tires are brand new they have release lube from the mold on the outer layer and that can cause VERY slippery condition. but then with 1" of water not channelled, most cars might hydroplane.

yah, new tires need to be broken in. i usually do a quick burn-out and that rids most of the lubage. but the front still needs to be broken in. at least, much less chance of spin out.
