Pulse 87 is going off the air in a week!
 

Anyone who listens to techno/dance and lives in the tri-state area (close to NYC at least) has heard of Pulse 87 (I hope). If you live there and haven't yet heard it it's 87.7fm. It's a godsend to people like me that never wanted to listen to the radio before this station came along, now I never turn it off!

The reason for the thread is that this small radio station is getting hit hard by the economy and only has a week left on the air if they don't get enough donations to pay their bills. I just donated and I hope some other people can do the same. Hopefully we can save the only free dance station!

Yeah I don't have much to donate either (i'm a college student), but I gave them $10 just to help them out a little. After all they are constantly on my radio so worse comes to worst it's the least I can do to say thanks :(

Not a NY resident but I'm listening to the stream now.....good music! I hope you get to keep your station.

Yeah anyone who can't get this station but loves dance/techno, I suggest you stream it from pulse87.com (if their streaming is still up i'm not sure), because this station is awesome!

I was listening to Pulse 87 from work and the DJ just said all volunteers who gave money will be getting their money back in full and the station is going to do everything in their power to stay on the air! Good news! I've become a fan in under 24 hours...thanks for posting this. :tup:

Was just listening to the station and one of them said that the station was saved.

Great news! I just heard that at lunch as well. Good to know we'll still have some great music left on the radio :tup:

edit: just went on their website and it said that they got such a good response their creditors decided to give them extensions on paying them back and to do so by "more conventional means" aka not a fundraiser. So they aren't in the clear yet but at least it's going in the right direction! Hopefully the money will flow

They do play some old weird **** sometimes though or things that don't even relate to trance or house, etc...
Sucks cause it's the only trance station on my fm...

Yeah I do agree they do play some bad stuff every once in a while but for the most part it's by far the best station on the radio and you can't beat their mixes

Yeah, once in awhile I'd hear Deadmau5 or some Armin Mash up.
ONCE IN A WHILE... They need to play some Sean Tyas, Cosmic Gate, Tiesto, Benny, Ferry, A&B, etc...

I'm glad to see they may stay in business. I hate hearing of special market radio stations going under. There was an alternative rock (& I mean "alternative" as an alternative to stuff on the radio, not Nickelback) I liked back home in New Orleans that had to go mass market & started playing more mainstream music, but eventually, they were sold to Clear Channel & are now a country station.

Even though I don't listen to them, but it's good to hear everything turned out to be okay. I am listening to their online stream right now, it's pretty good :tup: .

I know I can't believe it!! I went home for Thanksgiving break and all my other friends who also listen to pulse said it changed to "party FM" or some ****. I turned it on and it's DEFINITELY not even CLOSE to pulse!! It's a sad sad day for radio...

On a side not however, I'm thinking about subscribing for XM or some satellite radio. I heard they have some bangin' techno stations :)
