Historical Pics of Los Angeles, Ca
Hey guys, I wanted to share this with folks that are Historical buffs and like Historical Photographs.
In this case it's strictly of Los Angeles at the turn of the last century as well as the present but honestly I haven't made it that far since there's so much to see. I commend the members on that board for the volume of pics and descriptions of what you're looking at it makes less confusing to some extent. Please be aware that a couple of photos maybe graphic in nature since they are old LAPD or Newspaper pics. I hope you guys enjoy them as well as share it with family thats has been around. noirish Los Angeles - SkyscraperPage Forum P.S The site also has many other cities it covers, And you may find things of interest from other cities that you might of grow up in. |

good find trips, i absolutely love the los angeles of the early 1900's through 1940's, it really is a shame though that the city had to be torn up to make way for the freeways that the major car companies were lobbying for back then and also not surprised that john d. rockefeller's company had something to do with that (guy was a genius, but a major *******). i so wish they would bring back the mass transit systems of back then, a 100 times more efficient for a city the size of los angeles with far less pollution and you can tell that just by looking at the photos los angeles didnt have a smog problem until all the cars started hitting the roads. unfortunately with the way the street had to be redirected and torn up i doubt it would be economical for them to do something so drastic. dont get me wrong though, i do love cars, the Z especially, but looking at it from an efficiency standpoint they are the most innefficient way to travel around a city like los angeles or any other large city for that matter. |
