mr.alcheng- something about potatoes and french fries. when i have baked potatoes or potato salads my wife makes, no issue, but as soon as i start consuming 'frenchfries' i feel bloated. why is this? is it the oil in there?

hahaha, that would be one sad starved hippo.

Tt's because french fries is a processed food, and basically it's dehydrated, than deep fried in oil.

1) Frozen potato is chemical treated thus it's hard to digest.
2) The oil makes the digest process even worse
3) It's dried.
4) Age <= forgot this one, it's irrelevant.

Ok.. ok.... fries is not that good, but I still like Poutine....

but the local burger place makes their own fries out of fresh potatoes.... they even demonstrate the potato machine thingie where customers can watch the potatoes squeeze out the other end of the machine...then deep fried

ooo... i just remembered, the cheeze is processed. maybe it's the cheeze..

the oil.. no matter what kind of oil they use..

1) It's not clean and fresh (been used for N numbers of times)
2) Industrial cooking oil are always the lowest grade
3) The potato itself is no harm, but imagine the potato is absorbing all the oil during the frying process.....
