Oh man, I would be the best (worst) mall cop ever. I would be tackling people, punching dudes in the face, frisking all the girls for stolen articles, and generally being an *******. I would have so much fun, but I wouldn't last a week before they fired me hahaha

I mean for crying out loud I replaced a light switch last weekend and I had the foresight to look at the switch and think "Hey, when the lever is 'up' that's "ON". It's like this guy has never wired a damned light switch or something.

They also did a crappy job of framing the recessed medicine cabinet and then shoved it into the wall and bent/broke it making it fit the not-square framing and pushed on the lathe on the other side of the wall and made a 10" crack in the plaster in my dining room.

They also didn't order the new window until the 2nd week and found out it was a special order that will take 14 days.

So yeah, I'm not expecting perfection at all, I'd just like something better than what I'm getting, which is pretty bad. :ugh2:

:( it sucks.

That's pretty unacceptable. But having dealt with plenty of contractors like this one, it is in your best interest, assuming you are having them complete the work, to not be argumentative or accusatory when discussing the problems you have with their work. Try not to be passive aggressive, either; contractors get defensive very easily when you start questioning their work. But definitely don't be afraid to point out anything you aren't happy with. It really is all about the approach. Some guys want to be the smartest guy in the room, so I let them think I don't have a clue even though I know exactly what they should have done to get it right the first time - but other guys don't even want to talk with you if they think you're too stupid to know what's going on (these guys are often more reasonable in their discussions and will actually listen to you if you know what you're talking about).

The last thing you want is a pissed off contractor finishing up your renovations... :ugh2:

A couple of other notes, a lot of contractors want payment in full before they're done with the work - it allows them to leave the job a lot easier. You should always have a retainer (10-20% of the total is good in most cases but more is not uncommon) that is not paid until the end of the job. If they say they need more than 50% (20-30% is more likely the actual amount) for materials, call bull$hit unless you are getting major equipment like water heaters, condensing unit, furnace, or extremely expensive finishes.

:tup: well said Jar :tup:

dude... Do you really want to do that???

Whenever there's a fail in the engine in the future... your service manager is going to say "You built the engine, right?? So it's not our fault then... "

Check out the time at the Nurembergring and you will see that at $60,000 the ZL1's times are that of cars costing tens of thousands of dollars more. Plus it's Made In Canada, comes with Poutine & Bacon!!:driving:

FIXED :tup::tup:

the Zl1 is ok, but for the price I would have bought a base corvette...

and it's not hard to beat the suspension on a ZL1? are you kidding me?
My car with turbo and suspension mods was still cheaper then the zl1 and I promise you it would go around the track faster.

I think I can track around with a Prius faster than anyone if my ex-wife is chasing me even with a Ferrari... :icon17:

This is the first time I've ever hired a contractor to do a big job like this and it just seems like everything they do is half-assed or wrong and then I have to tell them to fix it.

He didn't order my window so my shower area is still not tiled, in fact there are still open studs.

I'm actually considering telling them to **** off and having someone else come and do it at this point.

Gosh man... that's friggin' sucks..!!

So what is the estimated finish day now??

so, Force, Alex, Onez and Fire. when we meeting in Canada for poutine and sushi?

We are thinking about on a weekend, probably around Sep, trying to prevent the hot season, otherwise we can really make poutine off the hood..

We also have to consider the liability in case of accident and do we need ambulance or tow-truck standby on-site.

Can't just go to the track and run around like a whole bunch of crazy kids.. :icon17:

Most likely will be Toronto Motorsportpark, Mr.Ire and hook up with the track owner, and we just have to make up a date and facility.

Plus we are planning to have at least 3 cruises done, one night cruise around the city, one on the East end around where Mr.GaleForce's area, and one on the West end. :tup:

Then a track day..!! :tup::tup:
