Actually, you should wait until your early to mid-40's when your eyes supposedly stop getting worse.
I had lasik 12 years ago when I got to the point that I could not be corrected with contacts - just about legally blind. I ended-up 20-17 in one eye and 20-25 in the other.
Over the years my eyes have degraded back to 20-40, not uncommon. One side effect that they don't talk about is dry eye, which adds to vision difficulties.
Would I do it again - Yes. Just be prepared for some minor issues down the road.
