Pretty crappy day so far...

So I got fired today. Kinda sucks. Boss wasn't open to working around my school schedule even though I was open to still working there. Blah. Anyone in the Atlanta area that knows a good place to work while I'm goin to school?

Jasonle 12-06-2012 02:57 PM

I never understood the whole school ordeal. So you take out these high balance loans to get so called educated and then hope you find a job in that field to pay that high debt off. Hmmmmmmm all stick to Google and my mouth piece. It’s not what you know it’s who you know.

Something will come your way. Keep your head up.

This might sound funny to you but if you can, get a job at chipotle. Restaurateur manager there makes 6figures

A store manager of In-N-Out Burger makes around $80,000-90,000 a year. The position also gets full benefits.

cossie1600 12-06-2012 06:40 PM

So you want people to give up school to work at a burger joint? Great advice.

homeryansta 12-06-2012 06:49 PM

I call ******** on managers at chipotle and other fast food burger joints making 6 figures. Maybe 30k, but not even close to 100k.

I didn't realize I've been doing it wrong all this time for going to school and actually landing a job that pays decent. Not 100k decent, but half of that.

rAiN 12-06-2012 11:00 PM

not a bad consideration, when you can elevate your position very quickly working part time. it was just one of the advice, dont have to go all out and make any assumption of school being dropped and ruining life. lol

That's pretty damn good for working at In N Out. Some people go to school and don't even get a job paying that much from their education.

People don't realize you are pretty much capped without a college education.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs would probably beg to differ.

mom? haha just playing.
such a bold statement there. sure having a higher education could be the highway to your goal, its like paving a road for many possible destination but will it actually get you there in guaranteed manner?

I have a college education, and I don't use it I'm 100% oil field trash and proud of it. I work around 60 hours a week and am in the 6 figures. If you want to make good money you have to go where the work is. I'm not breagging just relaying info. IMHO I do not believe a college education is of high priority unless it's some kind of computer or enginering degree. My own kids, I will push them to get a higher education but I will warn them that they need one in an area that there is a high demand for people in.

So you're advising him to drop out of school like Gates & Jobs because it worked for them?
You really are capped without a degree. I do fairly well in the medical field only because of the overtime, otherwise I'd be capped around $45-60k for the rest of my life...

A college education is the best long term option. In short you may rack up some debt ( depending how much you work during school ) and the job market isn't the best right now. Like mentioned before, without college, 95% of the time your max salary is capped ( according to a survey I just made up). I went the college route and after school my friends had more disposable income than i did ( because of my student loans cc debt etc ). But as I started paying that off and my salary started increasing I'm now in a better position than my non college friends. So college is a good long term option, won't help you too much in the first 5 years or so, but I highly encourage it.

2 out of 300 million + people? What is the average income of college educated people vs non college educated people? Oh and see how many good paying jobs you can get at Microsoft and Apple without a degree right now.

Also most of the success story of these people are usually inventors, investment related or started working at a start up company. I would like to see a low level clerk rise up from the bottom ranks to become CEO in today's world. I am not saying it can't happen, but chances are very rare.

Nothing is guarantee in life. The degree will just give you more options compare to not having one. That's all it is. Do you want to lose a position simply because one person has a degree and you don't? You can't even be a cop without any degree in most civilized states. It doesn't have to be criminal related, it can be for psychology for all they care.

If you think the market is bad for college grads, try being a non college grad with no technical skills (i.e. licensed contractor). It really is all relative. There are guys bragging about making 40K as a store manager, yet I have seen 21 years old fresh out of college making 80K as a junior engineer.
