Official Hurricane "Sandy" thread. Are you guys okay along the (North) EAST COAST?
It's been a very stressful last few days for us North Eastern residents. Hurricane Sandy has made our life pretty much hel*. Yesterday we were told to evacuate(mandatory) our home. I'm typing this post from a hotel room far away from home with a wifi connection that keeps going on and off :(. Hurricane Sandy doesn't hit our city till 8p-midnight tonight but we are going to see the strongest wind since our city falls right in the center of Sandy :(. Here's picture taken few minutes ago. Sandy tore off part of the Boardwalk and it's flooding everywhere in my city and the hurricane is not even in my city yet! It's about 300 miles away. http://www.the370z.com/images/370Z%2...22286421_n.jpg 80 feet piece of boardwalk floating free on flooded water 1/2 mile from my house http://www.the370z.com/images/370Z%2...86179076_n.jpg 35 foot section of boardwalk floating down 15 blocks from my house :( We are also looking at DAYS of power outage after the hurricane leaves. How are you guys doing along the east coast? |
Good luck, guys. Theyre no fun.
|
:(good luck

Dealing with her right now. Luckily my Airport is shut down so I have a paid day off today and possibly tomorrow.
|
I live in West Texas and have no issues with floods, so excuse my inexperiance. But what do you guys do with your vehicles in this situation? I cant grasp the idea of everything you own just getting washed away, good luck and we'll be sure to send a prayer.

Winds starting to pick up here. Supposed to get our most intense winds later this afternoon and into tomorrow morning... hopefully nothing too bad. It's gonna be worse for everyone farther up north. Stay safe guys! |
I saw on the news this morning that electric companies are sending crews up there today to help get any power outages resolved quicker. I know there are a couple companies down here in FL sending crews to the FL east coast as well as up to NY etc. I think Okalahoma is also sending people. Hopefully these efforts help out as much as they're planning.
Stay dry!! |
Sorry you got evacuated AK, but better safe than sorry. It looks like it is going to be hitting NJ, DC, NYC pretty hard so stay safe everyone. Boston looks like it will escape the worst of this one, I expect to lose power but I'm fine with that.
Stay safe warm and dry! |

Then switch on the TV gov has closed all highways by 11am, no schools, stores open, roads are deserted, its like we were under a nuclear bomb threat.:icon17: Anyways, stay safe everyone, basement is your best option to hide :bowrofl::bowrofl:

I'm quite concerned. I live in a flood plain. Isabelle rocked this neighborhood about a decade ago. I'm very scared.
I've moved everything likely to blow away to somewhere that decreases the likelihood of flying debris. I'm a bit terrified about my new car sustaining heavy damage, as well as the Z. I've got large trees to worry about. Power outage is almost a certainty here. It's spotty under lighter storm conditions. I'm hoping for sustained power (or quick recovery) and no flooding. |
I'm in the middle of Long Island and things here look like it's starting to pick up. Got the Z in the garage and as prepared as can be. I'm just hoping the power doesn't go out.

but on a serious note, everyone stay safe, if power goes out here like last October then I have the gas stove ready,.
|
Yeah I hope everyone stays safe, again you'll all be in our prayers. Are there any people who refuse to evacuate like in New Orleans a few years back?
|
shado get the STi into a garage, STAT!
|
Winds are kicking up. US markets closed for a second day tomorrow. First time the weather has forced more than a one day closure of the stock market since 1888 I believe.
|
Enjoyed my day off by sleeping in. Doesn't seem too bad here right now. Stay safe everyone! :tup

Just returned home on Friday evening to this oncoming Hurricane. Took most of Sunday to break out, prep and test the generator and stage emergency supplies. The high winds aren't expected here in my part of MD until between 5PM and 2AM. Just tons of rain right now. Expecting power to be out for several days. Have plenty of food, water and blankets, and cars are all fueled up, so should be okay provided no structural damage or flooding happens here.
|
At least you and your Z are safe from the storm AK. That's trying to look at it glass half full. I can't imagine the amount of damage all the flooding and wind is going to have caused when it is all said and done. I hope everyone is safe that is in the line of these storms. This reminds me of last year when all the tornado's (or naders as some southerners refer to them) tore through Alabama. We were without power for over a week! All you can do at that point is protect yourself and ride it out and then let the insurance fix any damages as things come back online.

Thanks guys for you kind words. I'm okay so far. Z is parked at the hotel parking. I'm about 15 miles away from the evacuation barrier/Atlantic city. But wind is picking up very quickly. Only 3 hours left till the landfall passing by Atlantic city. My city falls right in the center of the hurricane. I'm really nervous. I have a feeling this is going to be horrible. Take a look at some of these pictures. My city already under water. From knee deep to waist deep water depending on how high or low area. High tide is right around the time landfall will happen. They are saying 8-10 feet high water is not unlikely.
http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...32762299_n.jpg Tennessee ave in Atlantic city. About 1/2 mile away from my house http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...89431339_n.jpg This is one of the higher area in my city. It's called "The Walk". It's been under knee to mid thigh water all day. http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...85684725_n.jpg Wawa in Avalon http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s..._com/1ddij.jpg Going into my city http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...79110543_n.jpg My house is ONLY 1/4 mile from this shopping center (pathmark). This is where I shop everyday. if this is submerged like this, my house is under water right now (at least Den and garage as my house is split level). Very very nervous after I saw this pic :( http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...35825056_n.jpg City of Brigantine. Adjacent city from AC http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...05969537_o.jpg Ventnor city http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...41596940_n.jpg Uptown Atlantic city. 3 people had to be rescued from this suv. Why people are still on the road? I have no idea. http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...77363796_n.jpg Brigantine 911 calls stopped 2 hours ago. No ambulance or other rescue service bcuz streets are beyond drivable. no electricity either. This is really bad. High tide will happen right when the hurricane hits my city full throttle. If it brings out water from the ocean, i wouldn't be surprised in the city goes under 10-12 feet of water. :( |
oh ****. AK :(
