A have a (nameless) friend who insists he only races people when there's nobody else around and that he's SO careful. I've tried time and time again to explain to him but it's always the same answer. Sadly, he's got a 500 hp Corvette so it wouldn't take much to get him into serious trouble... not to mention the fact that he's putting others at risk like the a$$hole in this story.

I can understand his mentality that he would only do it in an area or situation that the only person he would hurt is himself (I live in the boonies), but anytime a 4 lane road or town is involved, not only do I fear the consequences physically, but the shame that would come from people seeing just how immature I am. Hence I really really dislike trying to mess with people in general.

Well, he lives in Austin so it's not exactly the boonies. Even out in the country though, all it takes is one person pulling out from a side road or someone broken down at night without hazards on and its all over.

I'm not saying I don't get on it once in a while but racing on public roads is just stupid.
