You grip it, it goes bang. I does add that extra sense of security if carrying they also included I believe a block for the striking pin just incase you accidently drop it. I've also added an after market trigger kit, and all the safetys work properly. As far as the trigger safety goes, as long as it's not depressed it wont let the trigger move.
I like the XDm, but it it's kind of a weird gun imo. The frame is compact sized, but the magazine is still huge, too big for CC, well for me anyway. If they made a 10-12 shot XDm I'd be all over it.

That's what my FNP-45 is for. 14+1 rounds of .45 FTW!

Default Safeties

I carried a firearm for 10 years as an LEO and never had a safety. Safeties can be like stop signs in that they create a false sense of security. Traffic studies done in America tend to show that when yield signs are replaced by stop signs, accidents at those locations actually go up. Drivers begin to let down their guard because they assume everyone will stop. Not having a safety conditions one to go through a mental checklist or protocol with regard to how they handle the weapon. For summer I usually carry a Kahr MK40 with no safeties at all. It has never been a problem. I know I cannot place finger on trigger unless I am ready to exert pressure and that means I am in the process of shooting it. I am not knocking safeties or those who want them. Most of my guns come with them but I wouldn't be too worried about guns that come without them. Practice and work with the piece and you won't have a problem.

Yeah I have no problem keeping my finger off the trigger, I just worry about clothing or something else getting in there and pulling the trigger. How common is that? I have not heard of many ND while holstered, but I know it has happened.

Shouldn't be a problem if you're using a good holster. What are you using? Have you ever tried a Comp-Tac Infidel? That's what I usually use for my EDC.

Depends. Let me explain. I also have a Crossbreed, which is basically the exact same design as the MTAC. If I'm going to be out for an extended period of time, I use the Crossbreed because it's more comfortable for long-term carry with the way it distributes the weight across a larger area. But if I know I'm going to be in a situation where I'll be taking my gun off and putting it back on more frequently, then I use my Infidel. Why? Because I can remove the entire thing from my gun belt as a single gun-in-holster unit. The gun never comes out of the holster, which is a plus in terms of reducing the risk of accidentally pulling the trigger or swiping the safety off (I carry a 1911). I don't know about you, but when I unmount my pistol while using a Crossbreed/MTAC type holster, I take the gun out of the holster, then separately pull the holster out. And now that I think about it, you know what I do when I come home and pull my gun out of my Crossbreed? I immediately reholster it into my Infidel because I want that trigger and safety secured against accidental contact. Now, if you're able to remove your MTAC with your pistol still in it, then I guess trigger exposure is less of an issue for you than it is for me when I take off my Crossbreed.

Does that make sense? I sense I may be rambling. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're planning to frequently put your pistol on, then take it off, then put it on again, something like the Infidel may be a better choice. It's easier to put on / take off, and it keeps the trigger enclosed within the holster during removal and subsequent handling.

I speak from experience when I say that a safety really messes me up, especially since I've never had a safety on any guns I carried.

So I got a Ruger LCP in 380. Seems like a nice little gun and will work great on the ankle.

I rented an LCP to try it out once. Not my cup of tea, but it's a nice gun none the less. Have you tried finding carry ammo for it yet? Finding .380 ammo is somewhat challenging nowadays.
