Those that say 'I've been shooting a revolver for years...' are usually full of chit, they can barely put rounds on target. I'm almost convinced that FB is inhabited by fools, morons and drama queens.

I grew up on revolvers, my first gun was a 6" Ruger Security Six and I put almost 500 rounds through it before I could consistantly hit the black (8, 9, 10, X) on a bulls-eye target. I knew enough to keep my fingers away from the barrel and the cylinder gap....
The first time I shot a revolver for real was at the police academy. Back then we had to purchase our duty weapon and bought a SW 686 4" barrel. I can't tell you how many rounds we went through be for qualifying but it was a bunch and many of the cadets needed multiple attempts. The first round of fire in the qualification was from 20 yards. I was happy if I put any on the target and hitting the silhouette was bonus points :eek. Most remained of the course was between three and 10 yards with and other from the 15. I am left eye dominate and so I had to learn how to shoot and reload from that side. Reloading a revolver is not left hand friendly.

My first hand gun was a Colt Trooper Mark3 357. Followed by a S&W 44 Mag. When I was on duty. I was required to carry a revolver at first. That was a S&W 4" 686. Later on, I was allowed to carry a Colt Gov't Model 70, 45 ACP after I qualitied with it.

For qualification. Needed a score of 130 out of 150. Ranges from 5 yards, 7 yards, 10 yards, 15 yards, and 20 yards. In practice, I was getting 150's. qualifying, I shot a 148. Had a flyer. Also had to qualify with a 12 ga shotgun.
