I am glad snowflake is an insult nowadays. Seriously though, I love both golf and shooting. I have been "scoping" out potential rifles recently...

Figured it was the golfing post.

Savage makes some nice and accurate rifles for not a lot of money. My model 10 FCP-SR cost me less than $700.

Here it is in stock form.

I got my IWB holster last night. Aliengear Cloak Tuck 3.0. After figuring out the best mounting spot on my waist, I moved around the house for 20 minutes or so to see how it moved with me. So far, I'm happy. This is my first carry holster, so I'm starting from ground zero. I already know I need more jeans and a couple new belts lol.

I like my cloak 3. Very comfortable.

Anyone here use froglube? I ran a friends gun awhile ago that felt like butter. Not sure if its me or the lube.

I run FrogLube (FL) on my guns. I like it but there are some draw backs/things you need to know before using it.

First, it is expensive but I like it enough the price doesn’t bug me.

Second, is you have to be very careful not to over lube with it on pistols. FL can be unforgiving if used improperly on pistols; you can’t use it like old school oils/lubes. There are plenty of gun forum tutorials and YouTube vids out there on how to properly use FL. In hindsight I should have read up more on how to use FL properly before using it (see below).

If you over lube with FL on pistols, it can cause light primmer strikes. Especially if you get FL in the firing pin/sticker channel and on pin/striker it’s self. FL comes in two forms; liquid and paste (the CLP, there is solvent variant). Both, when hot become very viscous but once applied to a fire arm become thick when cold. If FL gets into the firing pin/striker area it will gum up the firing pin/striker when cold. When using FL on pistols use FL sparingly, a little FL goes a long way, wipe away any visible FL of the pistol and DO NOT used FL on the firing pin/striker. Also FL tends to go every where in side the pistols once it get hot that’s why you wipe away any visible FL before re-assembling.

To give you and idea of how bad this over lubing issue can be is, HK45s have the reputation of being one of the most reliable 45 pistols on the market, FL disabled 2 out of my 3 HK45s; light primer strike to the point the guns would not fire at all. Also caused light primer strikes on my XDs. Now my issues were due to me not using FL properly. I’m in the process of giving FL a second chance WRT to my pistols due to my improper use; so far, no issues.

Now long guns; with my long guns I have had no issues with FL, this includes bolt actions, semi-auto rifles (DI and Piston), pump shot guns, and lever actions. No over lubing issues at all and that’s including an AR-15 running probably a lot more FL than I need. However, I can see potential issues with 1 or 2 of my rifles but the rifles I rely on the most, no worries.

What I like about FL; it makes clean up a breeze; spend less time cleaning, its non-toxic and it smells nice (wintergreen mint smell). I can clean my guns with out being banished to the garage. I like FL and will definitely continue using it especially on my rifles.

I'm just glad when FL failed me it was at the range and not in a life or death situation. How ever I’m just glad my HK45s were the ones that had the major issue. I could at least keep pulling the trigger until something happened unlike a striker fired pistol. About 90% of the time if you get one round to go off the gummed up firing pin went away for the remaining time at the range. I also glad that I have other pistols I could rely on when I have issues like this.

FL does have a learning curve. Now that I have corrected my training deficiencies wrt FL I think I'm not going to have any more issues.

I used Lubi-plate on my slides and bolts on my rilfes. Light oil on the other parts. Very light coating. In cold weather shooting. You have to watch on what type, and how much lube you use on semi, and full auto guns. Because it will slow down the cycling action of the bolt.

I been useing hoppes elite cleaner and oil with breakfree clp. But i cant get that FL out of my head. It was just so slick.

What i took away from the reviews i read so far. Was to coat everything initially. Warm it up and wht not. Then wipe it all down. Reapply where you need it like rails. Ill look into it more. Ive also been looking into nickle boron bcg for my ar. And possibly parts for my pistols. I have a cerekoter/miller in my area but im gonna ask them about other coatings.

The big thing with FL is not to let it build up. That's when you get in trouble.
