Depends on you hand. The G19 fit me like a glove. Important point being, try several to find the one that's best for you.

Go rent a bunch at the range and see which fits you best. I already had multiple Glocks before I bought my M&P subcompact, but had I tested it before all the Glocks I would have gone that direction.

With the S&W M&P full size. You get 3 different back straps you can change.
I've shot a lot of Glocks, thinking that I might get one. But in the end. I always end end with something else. Glocks for some reason, I can't get to like them. Just not my cup of tea. They are good pistols thou.

I remember when I was young there were a few referred to as "glocknades" Don't know how relevant that is still. Either way just don't like em. Once I get my permit, the local range is going to let me test a couple guns. (all 9mm for starting) Walther PPQ M2, Beretta M92 (I've had a love for them but have a feeling I'll be let down by it) Beretta PX4 Storm, Springfield XD and a few different M&P's. I want to take a look at H&K's lineup soon

Have a 9mm Beretta 92 FS. Nice shooting gun. But the grip is on the large size if you have small mitts.
On Glocks. If you reload. You might not be able to reload because of a thing called the Glock bulge. Anyone here experienced this? Have a couple of friends who have. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...=glock%20bulge

IIRC Glock bulge has more to do with the .40 S&W (and 10mm) models due to the higher pressures those rounds have. I've heard that 9mm and .45 ACP (and GAP) models don't really have that issue but it is possible when shooting very hot loads. It comes from the chamber not being fully supported. There are some reloading dies out there that will fix cases with Glock bulge. For 9mm I wouldn't worry about it and IMO reloading 9mm is not worth it due to very cheap bulk ammo out there.

I seen the bulge in 9mm on both Glock and S&W M&P Shields. My wife's Shield doesn't like +Plus loads.
I reload everything I shoot. Cast my own bullets for pistols for target shooting. Just got done reloading 1200 rounds of 38 spl for my brother inlaw. Have 800 rounds of 9mm waiting to be reloaded. And 1800 rounds of 40 S&W waiting too.

I use a Hornady LNL progressive, but I still have a couple of RCBS Rockchuckers hanging around.

I'm also an owner of a Beretta 92fs Italy Inox.
I just bought two great pistols. Before I say what they are.... I own 5 steel and aluminum. Pistols. I hate polymer guns. Particularly striker fired pistols. I'm old school in that sense. I'm not a polymer pistol fanboy of any type. When I bought the Walther PPQ, I thought it was the end all be all to my polymer pistol purchase until I shot a Sig P320 compact and my mouth just opened at the ridiculous accuracy of this pistol from first to last shot. Slow fire or rapid fire. The Sig P320 was AMAZING. Sold the PPQ got the P320. On the side note I bought the best brand new gun in the universe for $209.00 The Taurus PT111 G2. Wow can that thing perform for its price point. I put it up against the Smith & Wesson Shield and Glock 26. I just couldn't justify buying anything else considering all the guns are half plastic. The Taurus with a 3.2 inch barrel shoots a 1inch wider group than my Beretta and CZ 75B. It's just amazing. I have one mag with hornady 115 grcritical defense, another mag with Winchester ranger T 124+p. Both I range tested and both performed phenomenal. Just thought I'd throw this in.

Honestly I'd love to get a .38 revolver instead but revolvers are expensive as **** from what I've seen.

I have a Colt Trooper (.357)... I wouldn't carry it due to the size and weight, but it's a fantastic shooter and didn't break the bank. Taurus has come a long way with their quality over the years, but If I had to pick between a Colt and A Taurus when it comes to revolvers, I'd go with the Colt. Just my $0.02. |
