How do you like that Kimber? Been debating on a 1911 for years. I'd love a Wilson Combat. But I can get a Springfield or Kimber, plus two optics and some other accessories before I hit the price of a Wilson.

1911 is good. I shot many both off the shelf and custom. Kimber makes a good gun. So does Colt if you get the gold. S&W are nice too. Of the customs I recommend Clarke or Baer

Before this becomes a debate about Kimbers, not saying it is just before. I had a Springfield XDM 3.8 9mm loved the gun! went to the range and somehow got a double primer or powder and it blew the grip and the chamber to hell. I told myself never again and that's why I went with Kimber, steel frame. Springfield is aluminum.

Damn that sucks. It seems ur hand is fine I hope.
So in a situation like yours, did the ammo company or Springfield do anything for you?

Factory loads, or reloads? You can't get a double primer. But you can get too much powder! Also the round before it might have been under charged and not left the barrel. But have enough kick to cycle the slide. Fired the next round and boooom! Seen that happen a time or three.

That looks like a casing blow out due to bad/old brass. Happened to me once when using reloaded ammo my dad had bought at a gun show. Luckily the gun was a Berretta 92FS and I was wearing eye pro, had burning powder and brass fragments hit my face. A couple of parts popped out but I was able to put the gun back together at the range. Then my dad took a turn and not even a mag later it happened again. Some people might bad mouth the 92FS but it is a tough gun. Even after having 2 case blow outs in one outing it was functional after a little bit of help. We took a closer look at the batch of ammo and found a few rounds were the casing was visibly cracked. The lesson here is to be careful when purchasing reloaded ammo, especially semi-auto pistol ammo.

Nothing wrong with the 92FS. Had a 96 Vertec for awhile. Just don't care for the gun. Doesn't suit me well.

Also it could be from an unsupported case head in the barrel. Look at your spent casings to see if there is a bugle on the case, just above the case head. Some Glocks and S&W M&P Shield 9mm's will bugle the cases. Some so bad that you can't reuse the case for reloading.

My 92FS gets a steady diet of 9mm Plus P's.
