I don't have a HK45, but I do have a H&K USP .45 (and .40) and P30L (which is very similiar to the HK45 but in 9mm). I am in the market for a HK45C because even though the "spiderman" adjustable grips are comfortable I find that I am better at shooting the USP and my H&K P2000SK which are flatter and more square.

For hiking I bring my Ruger GP100 .357...for some reason it just feels like the right gun. If all else fails you can use it as a cudgel or a hammer
