What is your choice of brand?

I was looking to getting a springfield XD or possible an XDm.

For the US-import P229s prior to about 2005, the frames were made in Germany and the slides were milled from stainless steel in the US. The current US versions are now completely made in Exeter at SigArms. The problems that I keep hearing are with the US-made frames, not the slides. I never gave any thought to it before, I had to get mine out and look! Slide stamped, MADE IN W. GERMANY. The frame has no markings, but the serial number.

I think Springfield's, especially the XD series, are fairly highly regarded. I'd say more than just "OK."

But as with any other gun out there, you really need to put hundreds of rounds downrange without a problem before you can really trust it to defend your life.

I shoot and train with a lot of cops, and do a lot of 3-gun competition. In those circles, people who shoot a lot, "OK" as a description for the XD series is pretty accurate in terms of how it's regarded. Modern Sigs OTOH are a little farther down the scale.

I have the Pearce +0 on all my mags for my G36. Thought about getting the +2 for my G17 33rd mag.

I kind of wish I hadn't already ordered the Tacstar side saddle. I found the Mesa rail w/ side saddle the other day, which is really what I want so that I can use a red dot. Not really a fan of the front bead sight, and with the Knoxx stock I'm not sure how easy it will be to acquire.

o yea, that thing is sick. Im a fan of having it on the stock itself tho. Idk how i will work it with the knoxx when I eventually get it. But ill figure something out. What reddot are u thinkin bout goin with?

I will say I love my Dan Wesson Valor!!! From the second I pulled that gun out of the box it has shot consistently better... My first session with the gun it shot a 5 round 1" grouping at 25yds and I thought I had missed the target for half the shots! I think I got a gun blessed by God himself as I have not had any FTFs or FTEs or Misfires since I have owned the gun! I love it to death the only gripe I have is that my grip screws keep vibrating loose hahaha.

have the XD 45 & the P220, both are excellent.
