Here's hoping it stays peaceful. Would like to see some pics but please do not put yourself in harm's way.

Quick question: if the 2nd Amendment gives the right to bear arms to the people and the 10th Amendment says the States can control everything BUT the rights given in the first 9 Amendments, how can any State have any say over gun possession? Seems to me that any State law/regulation is unconstitutional. Am I missing something?

You are not wrong. However, laws do not stop the government from infringing on constitutional rights; only The People can do that.

My understanding is that even though the 10th protects the rights of the state, the 2nd grants inherent rights to the individual... so yes, state regulations on the 2nd is unconstitutional

When I left the rally around 12, I hadn’t seen or heard of any issues. I didn’t see any Antifa nor anti-gun protesters. Every one was peaceful and chill including the police. The MSM/Fake News is already trying to spin stories that things were tense and every one there were radical white suprematists. Total untrue BS. I’ll post some pics later when I get home if you guys want.

Thanks for the responses.

I'm rather proud of my Googlefoo but can't seem to find any info on court cases that have established precedence in the matter. Since States are still passing gun laws, I'm assuming there's a judicial opinion somewhere saying it's not unconstitutional. Or have State gun laws, in general, never been contested? Can anybody provide some links. Hints on what to search for would help.

District of Columbia vs Heller established that the 2nd is an individual right

I think part of the reason there aren't many lawsuits challenging the states' gun laws is that it is expensive for lawyers and many lawsuits get tossed over 'standing'.

There has been a shift nationwide towards changing state gun laws, there are now more 'shall issue CCW permits', than 'may issue', states. There have been several states, Kansas & Missouri included, that have gone to 'Constitutional Carry'.

Until the Supremes come out and say 'the Second allows unrestricted ownership of firearms', there is always going to be states like Virginia, Washington, California, New Jersey, New York and Illinois (not all inclusive) that will try to insist that private citizens have no right to self defense, using the justification 'if it saves one life, it's worth it'. I forget who said it, but 'an unarmed citizen isn't a citizen, he's a slave'.

Sic Semper Tyrannis...

Looking at the link provided by bunk and looking at commentary on US v. Miller, I'd say you summed it up very well.

Arkansas is on the list. I don't feel the need to carry but it's nice knowing that I can. I don't think a State CC law has any validity but what the heck.

If I read the District of Columbia v. Heller page correctly, SCOTUS says it's an individual right, not a collective right.

The way states are passing gun laws but sneakily staying within constitutional rights is by using the death by a thousand cuts method. Ban "high cap" mags.. ban mag release buttons... ban folding stocks.. ban flash suppresors... its gets to a point where they're banning everything that makes up the evil black rifle and forces law abiding gun owners to own a travesty of what an AR once was.... law makers argue that these laws makes everyone safer and "see? We didnt ban the AR!"..Thy just neutered them
