Just broke down and ordered a new AR. I have a Sig 556 as my main AR but I want a traditional ar now so I ordered a BCM upper. Not sure on the lower right now but its going to be my new coyote rig. I can't wait to run it and see what it can do. Picked up a BCM bolt carrier and gunfighter charging handle too. Here is the upper: BCM SS410™ 16" Mid Length Upper Receiver Group w/ Midwest Industries SSG2 12" Handguard 1/8 Twist

I'm thinking about building my own AK47 kit. I have posted on other forums so i can get some opionions (It would be my first AK and first to have one built. But i have shot ak's before)
I'm getting that its better to buy a pre built ak cause it will be cheaper and less of a pain in the *** to build one. Or get a wasr and have rifle dynamics upgrade the wasr. But since i live in cali, with ffl fee's, shipping charges, bullet button, i'll end up paying over 1k if i go this route. Hell i'll end up paying the same to have one built. But i won't have to go through an FFL dealer and i can buy my own aftermarket kits. I don't have any tools but occasionally we have build parties and usually they have all the necessary tools to have ak's built. I want your thoughts, opionions or suggestions! Have anyone of guys built your own AK? How would you say it compares to say a wasr or even a arsenal ak's. (quality of the build, finish and how does it shot ) Here's one of the kit i may get, but it is pricey. 1969 Izhmash AKM Parts Kit

I'm a total noob when it comes to guns, but I finally went to an indoor range and fired/handled my first handgun ever.
Had a blast! I think it was a Ruger SR9. I fired at 8,10,15,25, and 30ft. I hope this doesn't turn into another expensive hobby

WOW that's a nice arsenal. It's a milled rec right?
It's a little pricey for an AK. I know that milled ones are more expensive plus it's a kvar. How many rounds do you have through it and how old is it by the way? And is this the warsaw or nato size buttstock? You said that you don't have the "thread protector"! what is that by the way? If i did decide to buy you would have to put a solar tactical 2 bullet button on that sucker in order for you to ship it to cali to my ffl unfortunately. Quote:

Well i'm also thinking about buying a romy kit that already has the original rifle. It's a romy G version. It's much cheaper than the link i provided and since this is my first build it might be a safer route.
I don't have any experience and no tools of any kind to get this built my self. I would have to wait for a build party and hope that people with some experience would be willing to help a rookie out. I'm in no rush and i do want to get the parts. Quote:

Didnt see you were in Cali, that makes it much more complicated! You may be able to own a saiga in stock form since they are imported in with a traditional rifle stock and can only use their priority 10 rd mags. I am not sure if they have been submitted for testing and are on the aproved list though.
