I can fully understand being more excited than the birth of your own kids - grandparents have all the fun with none of the sleep loss or financial obligations!

After mini gurney was born I was terrified for the first few weeks. I remember my wife and I saying to each other "what have we just done?"

We were married ten years before we had a baby. You get really spoiled with your freedom by that time.

All that being said, I'd never trade it for anything in the world - kindergarten, Cub Scouts (I was the Den and Pack leader), Boy Scouts (I was the Assist. Scoutmaster for his patrol - all eight boys became Eagle Scouts!), swim team, high school, and now the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M.

It's all good.
