I best place for referrals are your online social networks, not anonymous posts. I place very little value on the opinion of someone I don't know.
So since food critics use fake names most of the time to avoid the harassment, we shouldn't trust their opinions?

Also, not everywhere is San Diego. Some of us live in places small enough to where we have to do business with the owners, family, friends, etc. of places we don't like.

Your point is weird because we are talking about a name here. Not your SS#, DOB, eye color, etc. Do you use a credit card in public? Do you realize you are giving that checker your name AND credit card number?
That's a false argument and you know it. There is a difference between giving one person your name and posting it on the internet where everyone can read it.

For people that "value their privacy", all they need to do is not post and sit at home with the tin hat on.
Figures, people who don't have a real argument always result in name calling.

I also notice you leave ABSOLUTELY NOTHING public on facebook. You must value privacy a little more than you let on. :stirthepot:

I don't even like the fact that I have to wear a name tag at work that has my full name. I sure don't want to post it all over the Internet if it isn't absolutely needed. Who the hell would? I personally think only an irresponsible individual would be ok with this. People are crazy nowadays, and it is beyond easy to find out anything about anyone on the Internet if you want to do something malicious to them or their family. Why make it easier?

You seem to be arguing that just using your name, which for many is not unique in any way, is giving away the store. That is where we completely disagree then. There is no all or nothing here. Anyone can find me on facebook, but only my friends can see my plan for world domination.

In the age of information, anonymity is the modern body armour.

Also, I can join the french foreign legion, a highly elite military force, anonymously but I can't review a burger joint anonymously?

As a moron troll who hides behind anonymity, I really have a problem with this.

As a regular guy who hides behind anonymity, I also have a problem with this.
