Problem on eBay!
So I recently sold my bike on eBay. I also sold all of my riding gear. I had a member submit an offer a little lower than I wanted to take, but said the jacket may or may not fit so he didnt want to do the full ammount. I think ya right your just trying to save some money. Im a nice guy, didnt need the money just dont want it taking up closet space.
I accept it, send the jacket receive positive feedback, go about my business. Well the jacket arrived a day ortwo before feedback was left for me. Now I get a message that reads something like this: Hi, I left you + feedback but I found a rip in the jacket. I would not have payed 180.00 for it if I knew that. Im willing to take a partial refund and keep it to not have to ship it back. I can send photos for proof if you want. At first I said send photos, but I messaged him back to just send the jacket back and I will cover the cost, and refund his full ammount. I know that all my stuff was perfect I sold 5 jackets, and 5 Helmets, and 3 pairs of gloves. I inspect everything before I list it, then again before I ship it. I have 100% positive feedback since 2004. So my crazy mind is thinking this guy cut my jacket (on purpose) gonna send me photos for a parital refund (of wwho knows how much) and then fix the cut and have a 275.00 jacket for like 75-100 dollars. So my questions are: Am I crazy for thinking this? Has anyone heard of or saw a scam like this before? Thanks! P.S hope I did not just give some scrub an idea. |
Honestly it's hard to trust ppl, I've been an eBay person for the longest time.
I've been ripped off many times. It's possible that he would have done that! Like why would he automatically ask for a partial refund? Instead of bringing the problem to ur attention? Did he leave feedback b4 he sent u messages about the jacket? - The One - |
Yes he did leave feedback first. The partial refund is what threw me off the more I thought about it. As nice of jacket as it was (Icon Compound Mesh) I would of just wanted to return it. That coupled with the lame reason he wanted it for less to begin with.

If u are sure the jacket was clean n rip free. Leave it like that he left u feedback already no much he can do know.
If he takes it to the next level fight ur case with customer support! - The One - |
There is always the .1 percent of my mind that thinks, what if I did miss it somehow, twice! Im fine with taking it back and just relisting it repaired for less. That is less hassel to me then possibly having to fight a delusional guy over the inet.
I still wonder if this is some kind of scam people do. Quote:

I have a bit of experience with eBay. The problem for sellers is that PayPal will almost always side with the buyer. Just because the buyer left positive doesn't really matter because PayPal doesn't actually interact with eBay. Yes they're the same company but believe me they never cross paths with each other.

I was thinking this as well. That is why I decided to have him just mail it back. I can fix it and resell it with the problem noted.

^^x2 just do that.
Get it back n then fix it. You n the buyer are going to have to come to an agreement for shipping it back though. Don't give a refund tip u have ur jacket - The One - |
