Eh, not that silly really (aside from the color). It's not unusual to paint or coat the rotor hat (the center) to prevent it from rusting. Painting the swept part of the rotor was simply a waste of paint, the pads will remove the paint in a few miles of driving. The brakes will work fine.

i was planing on painting the center cap with some flat black paint to stop the rusting...looks so ugly to see every winter...lol
then i saw this thread and didnt want to mention it...lol |

The rotors I used to purchase for my boxster always showed up like this... threw me initially too... also they tended to cook and smoke at first track session... can be unnerving, but as previously mentioned, no big deal
