Worst driver habits
 

My grandson went to drivers school today and when he came out I asked him if he had learned any of the drivers skills his father has mastered.

Specifically I wanted to know if he had learned how to cut someone off in crowed traffic..with extra points given if the other driver either honked the horn or threw the finger.

I asked if he learned his father's skill of coming up on a stopped car full speed, jamming on the brakes and blowing the horn at the last second..thus scaring the s**t out of the other driver and causing the driver behind to swerve off the road..almost.

And also i wondered if he has mastered his dad's special "passenger coffee" technique whereby you hit the accelerator then the brake then the accelerator in such a pattern as to cause your passenger to spill a fresh cup of coffee all over themselves..

All of which brings me to the point of this thread..What is one the thing that other drivers do that irritates you the most?


One which especially irks me is when you are in the middle or left lane want to exit right. You put on your directional indicating a right move but no one will let you in... In desperation, as you approach the exit.. you slowly move over... and some one lays on the horn..and throws the finger..at you..

That's mine..what's yours?

People who refuse to pull into an intersection on a green light to make a left turn ensuring that they are the ONLY one who will get through the light once it turns.

Every other driver on the road...

People who don't know how to use their gas pedal on the acceleration ramp.

Somebody that busts their tale to get in front of you and then They proceed to execute a left turn :-/ Wth?!

Oh man, that is where I get crazy...I am usually looking out my passenger window to see where I am going.

Freeway on ramps are the best...0 to 65 MPH and then just cruise when I am on the Freeway..

with the way people drive around my area i would be afraid to enter that type of intersection too...aside from that though my personal favorite is the people who ride your *** for five blocks just to try and get you to go faster so they can abruptly turn into the driveway leading to their house all the while nearly causing an accident in opposing traffic.

I will say it seems that 90% of sh1tty driving seems to involve poor merging skills.

Every driver that always has to TAILGATE me while I'm slowing down for a dip. Seriously, screw off! I know the car is attractive, but the way you're staying right behind me is going to make the car unattractive in a few seconds.

Like I said before...Every other driver on the road...

People who drive in the right lane with no intention of turning right at the next intersection.

People that honk at me or call the cops on me when I'm speeding switching lanes trying to shift, talk on the phone and text at the same time

That about sums it up.

People who sit at a red light in the middle of nowhere with no turn signal on, then when it turns green, they turn right. YOU COULD HAVE GONE THE WHOLE TIME!

I posted this story but it subsequently disappeared.

I am a tailgater-magnet. I do something that was enticed by driving techniques used to save gas. Coasting to red lights, etc. In heavy traffic on a highway/freeway, I let the car ahead of me get around five car lengths away. I slowly move towards the car ahead at a steady pace while that car goes 10 mph for two seconds, stops completely, goes 10 mph, etc...

I'm behind a Mini at a stop light. Light turns green, guy proceeds to drive normally. Dude takes like 30 seconds to get up to 45. The whole time I'm maybe a car length behind. I change lanes at the SAME time as this guy, into the same lane. I'm tired of this, especially considering the speed limit just increased to 50. I change lanes again, only to see this guy do the same thing. While this is happening, the dude is speeding up and slowing down. I finally just break free of this dude, and go into the other damned lane just to pass this insane-o freak. It's like 2am. No one else is out there. Need to make a left turn at the next stop light. Red light. The guy pulls up to me and screams out how window to "get off my ***, bitch." You're kidding me. I don't answer, he calls me a dumbass, and I drive normally, making a left turn. The dude pulls a holy torque steer batman and drives straight.

I have never felt my faith in other drivers drop so precipitously as that night.

I can't stand it when people break out of no where and then put their turn signal on WHILE they are turning. Happens all the time to me and it bugs the crap out of me.

I can't stand it when you're waiting to make a right or left and the incoming traffic does not put their blinker on until they are at the turn.

Texting/on the phone/otherwise distracted.

For years we have made fun of women putting on makeup. "LOL guys, women drivers" and now us men, and women, have taken to distracted driving as if it were part of our normal daily routine.

In short, every time I see someone weaving around, changing speeds, almost failing to stop and notice that they are holding a phone, I would really just like to kill them.

yep - i yell 'hang up your phone and drive' more than i'd like...

People with slow reaction times when the light turns green. It's especially bad in my area. The light will turn green and people will sit there for a good 4-5 seconds before moving. I understand hesitating for a second or two just to make sure nobody's running the light from the other direction, but that's not what people here are doing. They're just plain absent minded and slow in the head. Like they're not even watching the light. I have a sneaking suspicion that rather than watch the light, drivers here like to rely on seeing the car next to them move forward to start moving themselves. But all too frequently, people with this mindset line up next to each other, so neither one moves. Until I lay on my horn. :shakes head:

OMG! My better half calls this every time we see somebody driving erratically, and he is usually correct :icon14:

People that tailgate me when I am going 5 miles over the speed limit to begin with. Than get all mad and flip me off when I brake check them. **** off!!!!

People who are using phone while driving. I hate it when I see someone in distracted driving.

Folks in my area love to get into the left-hand lane and start to slow down for the turn 2 miles before they need to make the turn....all the while holding-up the traffic that is trying to pass.

They won't tailgate you if you get the hell out of the left lane. :ugh2:

I hate driving through an intersection with a green light only to get T-boned by someone running a red light. THAT'S aggravating

Yes! Even if I am doing 20 over, if someone comes up behind me I move over to let them pass at the first opportunity.

I can’t stand drivers with cars/trucks that have not been taken care of that when they push the gas to go there is a big black cloud of smoke.

I can’t stand drivers that stop at the intersection knowing there is a merging lane (a long one at that).

No excuse to tailgate ever.

I hate people that tailgate at speeds of 50mph or above. Gambling on your ability to react to a sudden stop at that speed with little distance between you and the car ahead of you is a very dangerous game, and is unnecessarily stressful for both drivers.

Even when I'm mad at some slow mfer in the fast lane, I give them a few car lengths.

I have seen accidents occur from tailgating. I don't want any parts of that.

Oh, I agree, tailgating is dumb. But why do people do it? To let some jerk know they need to move over who wasn't getting the message when your car suddenly appeared in their rear-view... Because they never bother to check. And, you can't just shoot them... Except in Texas, or so I read on the Internet.

When its a right turn and there is a sign that says "no turn on red" and the guy behind you doesn't seem to understand this and starts honking at you.

And how people don't let you merge, and then when you have to squeeze in they get angry and honk ect.

And the common one, when people drive really slow on two lane roads and hold everyone back. And I'm forced to do a double yellow pass out of frustration.

And I'm kind of annoyed that with this car, passing someone is an instant challenge. Im not kidding when i say someone wants to race me every single time i go out for a drive. last night on the way to walmart, STI wants to race, on the way back a M3.

Actually, some azzholes tailgate just because they don't know how to drive. I've seen people tailgate, and then when the person in front switches lane, they either tail gate the next person or get behind the person they were originally following. Some people are really f*cking stupid.
I even had someone do that to me at a stop light where we were both making left turns, and the light was green, but there was a RED ARROW for left turns. Guy honked, then swerved around me to make the illegal turn.
I ignore them. They won't pay your ticket or day in court.

People who stop at the end of a highway on-ramp because they don't know how to f-ing merge. Maybe if there were going faster than 20 mph around the ramp they would have been able to accelerate to merge speed more easily!

Overestimating their brakes, and their driving ability.

You're right, I can recall a few times where someone was on my *** in traffic and I moved over and they got in behind me and stayed right on my *** anyway. I don't brake check them but I will slow down until they figure out they should pass me. :ugh2:

I think the worst habit for people on the freeway is they would slow down and check out an accident even tho it is minor and would end up slowing down the traffic.

By far one of the most annoying things ever. I've been in too many situations where the accidents been cleared off the freeway but there's still traffic because people slow down to look at it =____="

people going to same speed limit and no using their blinker...common floridians, they do that and I think its lack of driver's education and old people
