In a stock Z you're normally doing about 130mph at that point, in a Corvette 140mph at the entrance to the braking zone for turn 1. He had backed off a little bit either because of traffic or possibly a local yellow flag waving at start/finish. There is a fence at that part of the infield, but the deer jumped it, obviously the fence isn't tall enough.
