Default I think I need to start using my 370Z as an ambulance

So, I finally get a bill today from Fairfax Co. Fire & Rescue. I already know it's going to be a bill for the ambulance ride from my accident back in March. Here's the damage:

To ride in the ambulance - $400.00
Mileage charge @ $10.00 per mile - $110.00

GRAND TOTAL - $510.00

And my insurance company denied the charges so now it's on me to pay the balance because I didn't have PIP Insurance. I never heard of PIP (Personal Injury Protection).....I have the $$ to pay it but I never knew I needed some extra part to my policy to cover ambulance rides.

My uncle was in a car accident recently and he's been having issues with ambulance coverage also. As much as people like us pay for auto, health, life, home insurance it's crazy how we get shat on.

Trust me, I did call them and that's how I found out about that PIP stuff. Judge Judy or Judge Joe Brown....which one would be better?

I have a lot of buddies that I used to hang out with when I had my motorcycle, a crash out of the city, (lake mead, red rock, mt. charleston, etc) is a 10,000 dollar Helicopter bill instantly. fortunately all of them had insurance pay the full bill.

There was an article in the paper a day or two ago that said my city wants to increase the fee for an ambulance ride from $400 to $1500! I think it's fair that the city asks you to cover a portion of the costs, but they should not be using accidents to make a profit.

Also what exactly do we pay taxes all of our lives for? If I pay taxes to the local government for 60 years and never use the ambulance do I get a refund?

the ambulance bill is actually high because of the people who dont pay and dont have insurance. the cost of picking up bums and folks who just never pay actually drives the cost. If you live in a bigger city especially, and you can always refuse transport if you feel you're ok and over 18 and go by POV if you want, but if you're hurt your better off going for that ambulance ride!
