Tired of Newbies
 

As the title states. Lately it seems this forum has been flooded with newbies. Which is good in it's own way. But where my problem is they keep asking the same questions over and over. And it's the most basic ones at that. The forum has been around for what, 3+ years? Do they not think these questions has not been answered many times before? Just about everything here has been discussed over and over.

For me the site has come down to specifics for each others car. Which is what it should be now with all the time that's went by. But to see questions about what exhaust should I get, what oil are you running, what tire size, what's the best CAI, and so on and so on. It's gone mad IMO.

So newbies please use the SEARCH feature.

I'm sorry I had to vent this issue. I try not to complain any but I had to. I feel much better now. Thanks.

I was wondering why you posted the drama icon? I'm far from that, trust me. Sometimes you have to call as it is, which it's usually BS. Away from here I do this a lot. That's why most think I'm a A hole because I hate BS and exaggerate stories.:icon17:

Seriously though this happens on every forum after the car has been around a few years. It gets even worse as the cars become more affordable.

i know it sucks, but i think some of those guys may be using iphones, and search wont work on iphone. so i guess they just ask hoping someone will help. is there any hope for a fix for the iphone search issue? i bet most folks really dont wanna flood the database thingy

I know I don't post my mods anymore due to the flood of PM's I get asking questions and more questions. Then I get the PM's asking what kind of mods I think they should do. So on and so forth. :icon14:

It is getting out of hand with all the PM's month in and month out.

Search works perfect on my iphone

Most people who been here for a while understand how it works. New people do not and most people who join a forum are either looking to socialize or look for help and don't know they will be mocked and castrated for not searching... and search does not always have the answer, usually I Google what I'm looking for and behold it will show a 370z thread with the answer... however the search here revealed pages and pages of unrelated threads. I don't even think about asking questions because of the self serving people who want to jump on you for not spending days going over old posts that may or may not hold the answer

One of the purposes here is to help others and make others feel welcome... which is what I try to do here when I can

I agree 100%. On Zilvia, an S/Z chassis forum I frequent because of my previous car, we get a lot of newbie posts asking the same questions over and over again.

"What wheel fitment do I need for flush-look?" Even though we have a 500+ page thread on it specifically stickied for all to see and look through.

"Which part is better, this eBay brand that cost $50 or *insert reputable brand* that costs $500?"

Many questions can be answered by searching the forum, or worse case scenario *gasp* Searching this almighty thing called "Google". Surprising how strange it is that nobody's ever heard of this before. But it's available, free and seriously will answer 99% of your questions. Damn those 1%-ers.

But seriously on this forum, there are some threads that make me scratch my head. I'm not going into specifics but off the top of my head, some people start threads that should have been knowledge about cars in general, not specifically to the 370Z.

This is the reason for my low post count, because I know how to search and keep my posting to a minimum. The difference is that on Zilvia, they don't tolerate the newbie questions and the threads get locked, the OP gets pissed, hates the forum, and leaves. This forum is MUCH more tolerant towards newbies and embraces everybody.

spohn, which model / generation iphone do you have? mine is a 4g. i cant search, and i cant leave message when adding rep.

I have the 3GS. I can search and rep but can't leave a message when repping.

Maybe they should ask SIRI what should be there first mod or what kind of oil :icon17:

I think all of this is just people coming in who are maybe new to forums in general or don't think it through that maybe something already was posted.

That or they're lazy; in which case :shakes head:
