Tornadoes in Wichita, KS
Well, around 10:30 last night, a tornado hit my workplace. There were about 10 of us in a room in the center of the building watching the weather report on the internet. The power goes out. Then one of the guys looked out a small window on the door to the room and freaks out and runs to the other side of the room and gets down on the floor. I work at a large aircraft machine shop. He said he saw a dust cloud at the south end of the building. It sounds like it's hailing softballs and the ground, which is solid concrete and shouldn't be vibrating, starts shaking. It gets real loud.
We got really fortunate, as the tornado didn't directly hit our building. The company owns many buildings, and 3 directly behind our building got destroyed. It blew in 2 garage doors in in our building, and ripped some sheet metal panels off the outside but for the most part our building is okay. All the reports said no one was killed or injured so that's good. I don't know what the company is going to do now. The complex is a mess. I'm glad I was asked to work this weekend! |
Holy sh1t dude, Im glad you're alright, damn thats crazy.

Glad you're alright. We had a bunch here a few months ago, including an EF4. Glad no one was killed or injured.

Glad to hear you are okay. 121 tornadoes in the last 24 hours is pretty major. It is always good to hear that people are safe. Unfortunate for those that weren't so lucky in Woodward, OK when their emergency sirens were taken out by a lightening strike and 5 people were killed there. I hope your company is still able keep you operational while getting back on its feet.

I was home that night....thankfully....and enjoyed the week off from work too. Can't believe the Admin building is STILL trashed. |
Wow! It sound like a movie. But glad no one gets hurt. Hopefully the insurance pay for the dmages to your company. I think sometime they don't because of natural cause.

Update: They estimate the repairs at $400,000,000. Not everything is fixed yet, just the necessary things. Still have temporary fixes here and there, but they are making some progress. There are still a lot of roof leaks.
