It probably woulda been best to just pull over in front of your wife. I've been to Texas a few times and I know their speed limit IS the speed limit. Plus, Texas has very generous speed limits in some parts. It's not like in CA where many CHP are ok with 5-10 over.

I sure he considered it unusual for you to pull in behind him.

Think about it tactically. He's trained to approach you from behind. Now if he goes to your car your wife is behind him. If he goes to hers you are behind him.

He probably never experienced this before and might now have much training for it.

He moved you ahead of your wife so he could regain his tactical advantage.

the cop did a reasonable thing. They don't know you and therefore assume you can be a threat. they don't know if you are armed, on drugs, dangerous etc. So he had a good reason for you to not be behind him.

I got pulled over once and the cop went back to his cruiser to write me a ticket, I wasn't done talking to him so I stepped out of my car.....big mistake, he yelled at the top of his lungs "GET THE HELL BACK IN YOUR VEHICLE NOW!!!" I was like cool your pants cop I just wanted talk to you about the ******** ticket you were about to write me.

so, I learned never get out of your car unless instructed, and in your case don't park behind them either. lol

It was a good learning experience. I'm glad I didn't run into a rookie. I probably would have gotten shot for real lol.
