track your gas mileage

I've been using Fuelly for a few months to keep track of my mileage, miles traveled, amount of money spent on gas, etc.

The site does a great job breaking down the information into easy-to-read graphs & charts.

I currently have the highest MPG average of all the registered 350Z owners.

There are no 370s on the site, unfortunately. You guys should join.

My profile is available by clicking the link in my signature.

Pretty nice for following your mileage. Were you driving like a grandma this whole time? I think I'd just use the site to track how uneconomical my driving is. My trip computer routinely clocks me at 15mpg by the time I fill up my 370.

I work about 45 miles away, so that adds to the good mileage. I don't make a conscious effort to have really good tanks, but I seem to be good at it.

Even my tanks after driving US 129 at Deal's Gap were really good.

i signed up, just gotta wait til the next fill up now

This definitely seems handy. I'm just scared to find out how much I spend in gas.

Adding the price of gas is optional. I just like knowing so I can pretend to say to myself that I'll start budgeting.

I keep getting a consistent 32-33 miles to the gallon (according to the meter in the car) driving 40-45 mph in 6th gear.. I do this when I drive to and from work, about 50 miles round trip. Crazy eh? Maybe my Z's trip computer is borked. I always do a reset of it when I get on the road and after 30+ minutes of driving it's still showing over 30 mpg. I haven't done this for a whole tank of gas because I normally drive like an asshat when I get into the city.. I just can't NOT have fun, ya know?

Edit: Just created an account.. will start logging after next fill up. (If I can remember, err)

I'm nearing 4000 miles and consistently get 21-22 mpg in fairly agressive driving. I have a 15 mile commute each way through mostly curvy country roads.

I'm curious to see what you'll be averaging once you hit around 10k.

Two round trips to & from Houston in a week (four hours each way) bumped my mileage to 27.0 MPG.

I got 29.8 on my most recent tank.

fial mileage

nogoodname 07-06-2009 12:57 PM

as i floor it, you can see the gas needle flick

cow 07-06-2009 01:15 PM

BMW's have a floating gas mileage needle. It really freaks me out-- it's like the car is angry at me for flooring it.

nogoodname 07-06-2009 01:17 PM

but 14.2..that's so bad....and it's summer now...imagine winter time and warming up the engine...lol

hummers have better mileage??

cow 07-06-2009 01:19 PM

Have you checked your plugs?

nogoodname 07-06-2009 01:32 PM

yeah, they look alright....lol...this is our project, the quest to 30 mpg...lol...are you up to it??

haven't change them in quite awhile though....time for tune up i guess

cow 07-06-2009 01:42 PM

It probably would help a bit.

I'm still around 27 MPG. I've not filled since last Wednesday & did a fair amount of city driving, so I'm expecting this tank to be around 25.5 MPG; I think that'll bring my average down into the 26s again.

CrownR426 07-06-2009 01:44 PM

I had to choose other!
This looks fun.

nogoodname 07-06-2009 01:53 PM

^^ it is, i want to bring my Pontiac to the high 20's and low 30's and i'm stuck in mid 10's......hahaha

I used to pretty much ignore that gauge.. until this thread made me join Fuelly :(

cow 07-20-2009 09:58 AM

I lol'd.

Sorry about that. Your BMW is VERY angry with you.

Ryan@IP 07-20-2009 10:10 AM

100% city driving FTL :(

I just pretend it's a boost gauge instead. More throttle = more boost = :)

cow 07-20-2009 11:28 AM

We've got bars!

Ryan@IP 07-30-2009 09:45 AM

Thanks to Fuelly, my BMW is a little less angry with me now :p

cow 07-30-2009 10:42 AM

It's funny how you become more conscious of your driving after joining Fuelly.
