So? Its not like the H1B workers are getting paid more than the techs or less for that matter... they are unemployed cus they are not good enough for the work they do - plain and simple... Now look at it this way - The companies sponsoring H1Bs are also huge and are not affected too much by the economy - its not like those companies are replacing their techs with H1B versions for cheaper - the companies loosing their jobs are the small ones who dont sponsor any H1Bs lol... so these are 2 independent statistics...

I'm not really sure where, what you have written is going!
I copied the following from the link, and I think and feel this is the whole issue!
." The government said "although the exact amount of loss to U.S. citizen workers has not yet been determined, there is no question that the amount of lost wages and benefits to U.S. citizens has been substantial."

I mean its like saying ... ok now that the few people who have Z's find them to be too common - lets stop nissan from making more Zs hahahahah ... Americans are getting hit hard cus they buy crap that they cant afford - end of story... Fix that and you will fix the people loosing their jobs...

The H1-B workers were highly needed especially during the economic boom period in order to allow the economy to grow at the rate it did (in fact they could have done with more). It would make sense to scale it back a little during the down turn. Unfortunately the numbers are currently fixed.

If you lose your job to an immigrant worker, remember your words.

If you do, sue. There is protection is place to make sure that this doesn't happen. A H1-B can only be issued for a skilled foreign worker if it can be proven that there is no one to take the job or that no one has the skills for the job. You have to run adds in major newspapers for several weeks advertising the position and requirements, you must receive zero qualified applicants.

H1-B visa's can only be issued to for what they consider "specialty occupations". Basically this is any occupation that would require at least a bachelor's degree, such as engineering, programmer, doctor, scientist etc.

I liken that protection to the rule that states strippers have to claim all their tips on their taxes. We all know the rule is there and we all know they don't abide by it. Also, good luck suing IBM and their bullpen of multimillion dollar lawyers on retainer.

Actually you don't even have to sue them, you merely have to file a complaint with the US Citizen and Immigration Services and let the Feds go after them.

LOL hahaha im in no worry of loosing my job given what I do and where I work... However - its not like people here are loosing their jobs TO an immigrant worker... its more like people are loosing jobs cus the companies cant afford to hire more workers and some companies that can afford to hire and hiring overseas and over here... should the companies in a good enough position be restricted to hiring only here? HELL NO ... its all about finding the best person for the work that needs to be done... You wonder why this country is in shambles - its cus we hire 50 ppl to watch over a machine that does the work of 10 people... bunch of lazy folks who had it too good cus companies were doing well... and now since that has stopped - we the american public do not have the common sense to scale back our spending and live frugally during harsh times - so what do we do? go and buy a 10 bedroom house we DO NOT NEED go buy a Hummer or a Gigantic pickup just cus we can... and when sh!t hits the fan ... people say... uh oh... no $$... Save me govt with their hands in the air and their bellys facing unemployment checks and they get paid 2300$ a month to do jack sh!t... seriously... stop getting used to buying on credit... stop getting things that we could not afford just cus some bank is greedy enough to make some $$ off you on interest... just stop... and we will do just fine...
