Best Day of my Life so far ( GTR content inside)

so i had the best day of my life yesterday.. was invited out to the 2013 GTR experience in west palm beach FL by nissan north america... it was first class all the way .... when i got there a 2012 GTR was provided for me with my own tent with my name on it... aswell as i was given a customized bell helmet and jacket to take home with me... the event was instructed by the skip barber team and featured AutoX ( on a Go kart track)
lane change exercises 1/4 drag race and then the road course... thoughout the day we also go to use the 2013 GTR... so they stuck me in a $107K car and said have at it......

it was all day from 8am-5pm and I ended up with about 20 drag strip runs and i won the head to head drag competition in my group with my straight wins... also lot of track time on the road course....

my favorite part of all was i got to meet one of the lead engineers from japan aswell as the former manager for NISMO japan and current global marketing manager for the GTR... nicest people ive ever met and the engineer shared alot of info with me especially tips to best launch the car

road course video coming soon. they had in car cameras for all of the 2013's and put all our footage on a super nice flash drive...but i had to leave 20 mins early to catch my flight home so they are mailing me mine

yeah they are offering these in the 3 largest markets for the GTR in the US and its designed for select owners to bring out their own GTRs to use for the activities aswell as use the 2013.... they really wanted me to attend one so i picked this first one at palm beach and since i flew down they provided me and a handful of others 2012's to use as our own cars for the day...and man those things took some abuse

yeah should have a bunch soon... all the 2013's had in car cameras so each driver got a custom GTR flash drive with their footage... i had to leave a few mins early to catch my flight so they are mailing me mine.. i had brought a mount for my droid razr but i was in and out of so many different cars i just never used it

its varies, i guess the main goal is to market the 2013 GTR in its 3 biggest markets here in the US ( FL NY CA) to mostly owners of previous year GTRs and a handful of possible converts or new owners...

i got to go because im founder of NAGTROC :tiphat: and weve been working really closely with nissan on some things over the last year... it turned out a huge % of attendees were owners club members and nissan was very appreciative of our help with building the brand here in the US..

the same team who puts this on markets the 370z too so the Z is in good hands
they are making attempts to involve owners of the Z in things like the project Z that will be debuted at Zdayz aswell as the hospitality events i post about in the regional forums...

its just this event was special because europe has had these type events ever since the GTR launched over there and NNA has a new team and the marketing manager is a cool guy and its really making strides to give US GTR owners and customers a new level of involvement and attention...

there was so much involved to make this happen but if successful it looks like they plan to do this with the GTR at the introduction of each model year.... aswell as even plans to accomodate owners at the nurburgring to watch the nissan japan team in their yearly development of the car

i bet they had 20 sets of used tires at the event.... and at the end of the day they wernt going to use them again.... i was dying to take a few sets home but not really a carry on for the plane lol

nissan had i think 7 2012's and 4 2013's the rest of the cars there were owners private cars

FL is definitely a large GTR market. And I had no idea this went on in my own backyard. So jealous.

Truly a top notch experience! We all should one day be so fortunate. Until then we live vicariously through you. :) Thanks for sharing what looks to have an awesome event.

a lap with me in the 2013... you couldnt pass so you had to back it off a bit to keep the right distance

on the back stretch they had set up like a 70-75mph slalom and we were just by passing that but you had to make sure the car infront of you didnt go through it before you got go flat out.. i wish we could have passed and wernt so bunched up that back stretch is probably a 155 mph area flat out depending on how deep you want to brake

a lot of sustained 1g turns there... nice :tup:

yeah the entire video was like 12 mins. i just edited out 1 lap quick to get up on youtube i think in one place i had 1.4 sustained for a sec during the tear drop.... but yeah that was my first time ever seeing that track.... they just gave you the keys and said here you go...if it was an open track with out having to worry about who is behind or infront of me... you could really have trimmed that lap down... my main goal was i just didnt want to run into the back of one of nissans 2013's or get rear ended.. i guess im used to VIR where you feel like your the only car on the track

yea definitely. a cool experience nonetheless.

a little update to this thread

Nissan held their final event of the year in NY this weekend and the GTR Creator and Chief Engineer Mizuno-San was there.... my friend Carl who is the Marketing Manager for the GTR program in the US got one of my under the hood panels signed for me that i had sent up!

i am also being sent some surprise they said was very special..so we will see i have no clue what it might be
