Is it Ghetto to back your Z in?

This was an interesting thread jack over in the Fast Intentions thread do I thought I'd open the floor for discussion.

A member mentioned that backing into a parking spot was ghetto and I'm here today to get the real low-down as it were. Tell me what you think and why.

I personally back into nearly every spot I pull into, unless I pull in through the spot that ends up behind me. Either way, the end result's the same. I find that it's safer for me to drive out of a spot than it is to back out into traffic where I'm half blind.

Parking is difficult in Europe in general and backing can assist in leaving and working out of a spot faster. Its practical. Ghetto its not. Its just parking! Its quite almost the norm here :tiphat:

Red__Zed 02-23-2012 06:35 AM

This should be interesting.

In my opinion-no.

It seems like many fellow soldiers share my habit of pull through or back in parking.

flashburn 02-23-2012 06:55 AM

Ghetto isn't what I'd call it. Pointless is... at least in most cases I see. People do it in the parking lot where I work all the time, and do it horribly, where it takes them like 3-4 tries before they are happy with their parking. I don't really get the point, it always takes way longer in the end.

Kingbaby 02-23-2012 07:01 AM

Smh

ImportConvert 02-23-2012 07:02 AM

Sometimes backing in is more practical, but most of the time I see trashy looking donks on 24's being rocked back and forth half a dozen times before their thug owners finally give up and get out of their slewed car.

m4a1mustang 02-23-2012 07:05 AM

99% of the time I back in to my spot. If you know how to park straight it's no problem, and it makes getting out of your spot a lot safer.

The key is being able to do it properly in one try. Most people can't pull forward into a spot in one try. :bowrofl:

kenchan 02-23-2012 07:11 AM

Not ghetto. Just planning the escape. :icon17:

Done properly and smoothly, its nice. Otherwise, it usually just accompanies loud bass, shiny over-sized rims, and candy-bar branded paint schemes to bring attention to some thugs existence.

You're acting like most of the people that back in to a spot are thugs. :bowrofl:

For me I have a better view especially when parking in a corner spot.

:iagree: it is far safer to back into a parking spot. Also if you can't back into a spot in one try and keep it between the lines, you shouldn't be driving.

Please also consider that the title of this thread contains grammar consistent with Ebonics.

"Is it Ghetto to back you Z in?"

I guess what you do with you whip is you business, dawg.

Just giving you a hard time brah. :p

yellogixxer 02-23-2012 07:37 AM

I almost always back in, probably always will. My other car is a F150 Super Crew 4x4. It's definitely easier to back that thing into a spot than it is to back it out, because of the swing when backing and turning.

I live in one of the worst parts of the South. I can't think about ghetto things in a joking manner. It makes me too angry. :roflpuke2:

Zeuz 02-23-2012 07:53 AM

Most of the time, that is what I see being backed in. Everyone else just pulls through a parking-space and accomplishes the same thing.

D'oh! I didn't even see that. Now it's going to bug the crap out of me! :shakes head:

I think one can surmise that I have a firm grip of proper English by viewing my opening post.

Zeuz 02-23-2012 08:07 AM

Yes but just by backing in does not make a vehicle or a person ghetto.

Baltimore, my friend.

We're #1 (in gun violence, chlamydia, and heroin)

Anyway, as for backing into a spot, who cares how one parks as long as one does it in a timely and considerate fashion?

The z is pretty easy to back in, with its huge mirrors, and some folks have the rear view camera (PM Jeffblue), which makes it even easier.

Backing out of a spot with this car's considerable lack of rear 3/4 visibility is more difficult.

Rockcrawler 02-23-2012 08:17 AM

often when you arrive you have a very recent "command" of other vehicles in the area and you are backing into a space between "assessed" stationary vehicles (nobody in them, no doors about to open, not running, no reverse lights) so it's "safer" to control the spot in traffic with your presence (assuming you are not causing a traffic jam with your incompetence) and safely back into your spot.

much safer to nose out when you have to. At my work I'm often parked in between pickups and SUV's and you just can't see getting out, seems marginally better to do it going fwd.

the Z is ez to whip into a spot, but my other driver is a Megacab, you are lucky if you can back in in on one or two stabs in a tight lot. pulling straight in, forget it.

I'm also a boating gearhead and have been blessed with owning a few go fasts in my life. You are considered the master of your domain when you competently back it into a slip, a newb or incompetent when you nose in. Same for cruisers. Maybe theology subconsciously carries over.

I really don't care what the guys on gold 24's are doing as long as it's not threatening harm to anyone:)

TheGreatOne 02-23-2012 09:05 AM

lol, I remember seeing that comment in the Fast Intentions thread and it made NO sense to me lol.

I always thought it took more skill to back into a spot and thats why I often do it, also makes leaving easier and cuts down the risk of missing someone in a blindspot when leaving

I always back into my spot at work. It's safer for me to back in and just pull out straight when I leave then slowly creeping in reverse trying to see out the blind spot.

Does "getto" mean difficult? If so, no, not to me.

Probably easier to maneuver around that dumpster too. :icon17:

I hope you're not one of those numbnutz that pulls through and your car ends up pointing the wrong way in an obviously one way parking lane.

I can't back into my spot on campus because they'd give me a parking ticket. :icon17:
