Its called multitasking, and im sure even if cars drove themselves people wouldn't stop doing these things.

comprehension = not your strength.

he is saying that people dont like the commute. So they fill it with doing other things, which makes everything unsafe.

He didnt say that multitasking itself was bothersome, but rather the fact that people get up in the morning and face a long commute to work.

Uhh, so you are saying that people talk on the phone, or do makeup because they dont like their commute.....:ugh2:

No, they do it to save time...lol Hence why I said they multitask...how are you answering on his behalf when you don't even know what you are saying.

if you like somthing and look forward to it, you dont do other things like doing it. You get things out of the way and or do them later.

Like if i were going on a mountain cruise, im not eating a donut, or on the phone, or doing art....

if im not looking foward to my drive to work, i think to myself, you know i'll just call AT&T when i drive to work to complain about the caller id not working.

tada.

daisuke is right on with what I meant.

Yes, people multitask because they do not treat driving seriously enough. They do not see it as important. Rather, they see it as a bothersome task.

That is precisely my point.

If people treated their responsibilities as a motorist with the attention it deserves, they would see that trying to "save time" while doing so is irresponsible and dangerous.

And, as I said, for those people, I would rather have a computer making their driving decisions so they could go about being a nuisance only to themselves and not risk our lives.

I like how you edited your mistake...lol. Which basically implied "people talk on the phone, etc because they don't like their commute" First fail.

Second, what you said next which makes nooo sense. a woman doesnt say "oh I hate my commute so let me do my makeup?" No, she does it because she is in a crunch for time. Second fail.

so.. does a woman do her makeup while sitting at the dinner table with a date?

nah, she takes it seriously enough and looks foward to it enough to get it done ahead of time.

same idea. if you care about it, you will not do other things during.

Applies to more than just a commute drive...

and p.s i havnt edited anything.

The point is, the woman doesn't say "oh I hate my commute so let me do my makeup?"

But her attitude is, "Where can I save time to do my makeup? Oh, on the way to work, since driving is a boring task anyway."

Def did, should have quoted you on it actually. You basically said that people do things such as makeup, eat and stuff because they dislike driving. Wrong, if you wanna deny it now, thats okay to prove your point...which is nothing. ha.

I'm sure they'll be on the road soon enough -- there's already bits and pieces of the tech in new cars.

There have been several car companies, the military and a few research labs that have been engineering autonimous cars, including the BMW seen on Top Gear. The system google has implemented is farther advanced however, allowing for variables outside of a track. A team of Stafford grads ran a self driving Audi TTS up Pikes Peak back in '10.

It's gonna trickle down eventually. Audi and other high end companies are already bringing out cars that can partially control the car with advanced cruise control systems. Audi has the "traffic jam assist" coming soon....Nissan meanwhile, will soon have acceleration suppression technology, womp womp.

Yeah but if you are going to talk on someones behalf Know what you are saying first, dont get excited just to retaliate back. Think before you write. lol

anytime you edit a post, it says, last edited... so go look for it.

thanks.

P.s your point of makeup is invalid because your only talking about one thing.

people who check facebook while driving, call up random people while driving. These arent to save time, its to distract them from their commute. Because they are things they dont have to do, and trust me, if they were doing something they enjoyed, they wouldnt be doing those tasks during.

I like playing video games... but when i get to a map i hate, i end up alt tabbing, checking out new music etc. Im not "saving time" im just distracted as the task at hand isnt interesting to me.
