how did the driver lose control all of a sudden? it didnt seem like they were racing or anything....right? sorry, i dont have my headphones at work today.

I'm without good sound too. It looks like the driver on the right just lost it while he punched it to go, or perhaps he botched a downshift in preparation to race and locked the rear wheels up. Or something just broke.

The car was supercharged. The idiot whacked the throttle and spun out. Prolly the start of their "race".
