Apparently there is a loophole that allows you to produce it as fuel in small quantities, still need a license though. The process for making Scotch is exactly the same as the process for making beer, just adds the extra step of distillation at the end. Given the expense and the yield it is still far cheaper just to buy it ready made

This is one tasty beer. Check out the beergeeknation review on youtube if your interested. They gave it an A. It's a very bold beer. If you like Red Ipa check this out!

My favorite (lately) has been a really hoppy IPA. I just got back from England and you can probably guess my favorite beers are ales. I really like the session IPA's (low in alcohol but very big on taste).
Now trying to find that flavor in Canada is difficult ... but fun trying!

Homebrewing woohoo! I have a Bavarian Pumpkin Wheat in the primary fermenter right now. Should be ready in about three weeks. Made a tasty English Style Bitter and have 6 bottles left in the fridge.

I've heard of people aging it just a few weeks (6-8) but I have to think that would taste pretty harsh. I would guess the minimum age to be 6-8 months before it would be pleasantly drinkable. The aging process beyond that is much slower and more subtle supposedly.

Yes Scotch almost always uses used barrels because they are cheaper and plentiful. Because Bourbon requires new barrels by law there are a lot of them available so many do get sent to Scotland, although they also use a lot of French wine barrels as well. Here's some recipes for you (moonshine is on the second page). Homebrewers will notice the similarity to making beer. Home Distillation of Alcohol (Homemade Alcohol to Drink)

The Tank 7 4-pack's just showed up in Boston area shops so I guess they are expanding a little bit. First time I've seen anything of theirs outside of the KC region.
