i agree, which goes back to the rider. If the rider is enexpeirenced then he should be going a speed at which he is comfortable with. As well as weather, road conditions and road debris. My city is the worst, we have very poor driver, sand on the road 24/7 from the winter (the city does a horrible job at cleaning the roads) and pot holes/tire groves are all over the place. but yet, with my expeirence i control my bike 100%. Not saying im the best rider on the road, but im comfortable with my bike and my expeirence level.

Yikes... glad you're ok bro.

I always wanted to get a bike, but between the stories like this that I read about and the stories from my supervisor, I'm a lil freaked out about getting one...

It is ok to get one, I have been riding for 3+ years and been ok, my father has been riding for 30+ years and never had an accident. Just play the game I am invisible when you ride and you will be ok. ABS is a must after what I have endured. I am going to get back on after I recover, I just love it.

In this case (and im not meaning to bash you op) the op made a bad decision to pass, (yes it was legal) but if he had more patience and waiting behind the other cars he wouldnt have crashed.

I agree with you, it was my choice to pass and I should of waited, 30 seconds more and I would of been ok.

Been there done that!!

Glad the OP was AGATT and walked away (relatively). I had this happen with pickup truck/trailer driven by a redneck. The turn lights didn't work on the trailer. Fortunately, he had his windows open and heard the loud exhaust. After this, i'm a firm believer of loud pipes saving lives. Anyway, the lesson I learned was to never pass another car/truck in this type of situation until it's absolutely clear what their intentions are.

To the OP, interested in a 2009 fz1, fully loaded for touring?
