USA is also the largest branch as well, was that taken into account (not arguing, jsut asking). I've always seen stats back when i as AD, that showed the army having the highest rates of just about every bad thing imaginable, but then again, they have more personnel than the AF, Marines etc.

There's also that "small" issue of combat stress, PTSD etc. Folks suffering from that tend to have higher rates of domestic violence (and violence in general) as well.

yeah, it's a rate, not raw numbers. Raw numbers they blow the other branches out of the water.

Another thing that helps (hurts) those stats is the benefits provided to married guys...encourages people to jump into (and stay in) bad marriages.

When I was an LT in Japan I had a young airman show up with a 16 year old wife. He was dating her before he joined but married her in order to bring her with him.

It's not that bad when he just turn 18. But what parent is gonna say "sure marry my 16 year old daughter and take her half way around the world".

ClemsonWill 11-09-2011 08:06 AM

Yeah, it's a good thing I don't have a daughter. I would probably put a bullet in his head.

Lemers 11-09-2011 08:08 AM

I would have told him to go and if they still felt the sameway when she graduated from highschool then I wouldn't stand in her way. Knowing that she would find someone new over the next 2 years

ClemsonWill 11-09-2011 08:12 AM

lol.... yeah that's the mature way to handle it.

Lemers 11-09-2011 08:16 AM

Well I think it would keep me out of prison.
