I have both systems, and honestly both have their pro's and con's.
XBox 360 I'm on my second XBox. 1st one had the Red Ring 'O Death, but I managed to re-flow the cpu and got it working again, so technically I have 2 at the moment. XBox live is great, but you gotta pay for it. It also has a larger game library, but the newer stuff isn't as exclusive as it used to be. Halo titles are still pretty fun, even though they have been out for a while. Forza 4 just came out also, which ranks right up there with GT-5. The only thing I really wished it had was Blu-Ray. PS3 I only have GT-5 and usually borrow games. I just don't play either one as much to begin with. I use it more to watch movies on Blu-Ray and stream through Netflix, which I think requires a Gold membership on Xbox for XBox Live. Graphic wise, both system are just about Par. It really depends on the game anyways. I like the controller on the Xbox a little bit better, but the PS3 controller isn't that bad. It has a built in rechargeable, which is a plus. PC If you want all out graphics performance, a gaming rig will run you a lot of cash if you want the best of the best. You can however, pick and choose what you want. You can also do other stuff besides games. The downside is, the selection of new titles has grown smaller over the years. If your anything like me, I like playing 1st person shooters with a mouse and keyboard rather than a controller. The 1st two Modern Warfare on games I looks really sick on a PC, even with a budget gaming rig. It's like night and day compared to the console version. Only thing I hated was the multiplayer had a few glitches when MW2 came out. If your into Starcraft and other strategy games, a gaming PC would be the best way to go.

^^ The kinect is pretty lame for most games, but it is awesome for head tracking in Forza 4

We do have an Xbox with kinect setup where I work and I've played with it every so often. We have a bowling game setup on it and I have to admit that it can be a lot of fun.

I was always a PC gamer. Besides being more expensive on the hardware, I found the lack of PC releases unacceptable. So I finally went to console gaming, except for my last addiction of WOW. And between the two choices you proposed, I would definitely go PS3.
I've actually been looking at PS3's, but I know they have been out a while and I don't to buy one months before the next generation is released...

Yeah, I have no plans on getting the PS4 immediately. I'll wait until GT6 is ready for release which is most likely years away.

So this isn't a total hijack...I know there a 160GB & 320GB PS3. I understand data storage and the like. Just not 100% on what the PS3 uses this for.

You need to install the game on the hard drive. I went with the PS3 320GB with the move bundle even though I don't use the move controller ever. I had only bought that because it happened to be on sale last year for $299.

Some (most/all?) PS3 games install part of the game onto the HD for faster loading times. I remember when I first played MGS4, there was an initial install that took a few minutes but from then on there were none or only a few.
I know Halo:Reach loads up faster once installed on the HD of the 360 but I'm not sure if all 360 games function like this. |

Also, memory is used for game updates, which can happen many times through a games life which can add up. Also, if you download games, demo's, put your own music on the ps3 to play in games or just listen to, photos, videos, system updates, anything really on the ps3... they all use the hard drive... Also, the memory is easy to upgrade if needed, it uses a laptop Sata 2.5'' Hard Drive. I had a 60 GB and made it 250, but that just died so just bought a new 320 GB...

The PS3 was designed to have a min. 10 year life cycle, so a new one is more like 4-5 years away since the PS3 came out in 2006. I think the same goes for the XBox 360.
