Guns, ammo, and any valuable skills you have that would help the group survive.

I love how in zombie movies, they take for granted electricity, like all the power plant personnel are immune or something. Electricity will be a big valuable resource. especially in the rebuilding phase.

Generators can be had......it's getting the gas/diesel to run them that's a problem. That shite don't store forever. As Hank Hill says, Please consider Propane. :D

Unless you have a pocket nuclear power plant or solar panels, electricity would be out of the question for a looooooong time. A lot of the plants should suvive a good while, but its going to be gathering the resources needed to run the plants that is the problem. Extracting the coal and natural gas for most of the power plants would be noisy and attract a lot of attention at best, and deaths traps at worst. The other problem is going to be keeping them secure from the zombies so they could be run 24/7. I am doubting that would be possible on the mainlands considering you would probably run out of bullets before zombies.

Of course, I am assuming a few million survivors spread out all over the planet so no real population density which is going to be neceessary for any real level of recovery.

I think it would just be pockets of surviving groups, independently building barricaded villages and working together to survive. I'd imagine as things stabilize expeditionary groups would go out into the hostile areas to search for resources and other groups of survivors to link up with.

You'd need a lot of damn ammo, though. It'd be so easy to get overrun by a horde of zombies.

Simple fix? Save bullets, electrify the fences! :D

In a zombie apoc, i would have access to thermo nuclear weapons and a b-52... I would make a new home...

Electricity in a zombie apocalypse is an interesting topic because if you have lights on or any sort of generators creating noise its going to create attention to yourself not only from zombies but also looters who want to take what you have. I'd hunker down and pretend no one was home unless obviously you have a big enough secured compound that no one will bother you.

How about a Zombie Proof House?

I plan to join the zombies, become their leader, and dominate mankind

I think windmills would be the go to power source. as well as solar panels, but solar panels have a life expentancy, i think I could keep wind power going for longer. Also how would one find out if food sources are contaminated and if animals can get zombiefied. You would need livestock and crops. both renewable resources, gun powder would run out rather quickly. me thinks, KILL IT WITH FIRE!

See, I'm not sure a barricaded village could work because what do we do when the resources of the area are used up?

As a species we will have to either become hunter/gatherers again or farmers. At least for a little while anyway. Farming would the easier transition because we can stay in one place, but that would be a lot of land try and barricade off and police effectively. Land requirements would only increase the more survivors you locate. Becoming hunter/gathers would just be stressful with never knowing if one was actually safe.

This is why I think an island is ideal. Nice natural barrier, room to expand with population growth, and once the zombie population had been dealt with, no risk of infection.

Just need some large boats that can carry alot of initial supplies and population. A couple cruise ships should do. Will need to raid all the liquor stores though. Thankfully, our GPS system will still work and we can locate them all being satellites and all. :happydance:
