I do wish they would display the PI/HP-wt numbers of the cars they offer as gifts -- especially in early game when you might actually need one for the next race.

So in career mode, the race choices that are listed for you are based off of cars that you own. It wouldnt appear if you didnt own something that could possibly fit the bill, either in its current form, or through upgrades.

So how you guys like it so far? Game is great except for the AI which seems worse then Forza 3.

AI definitely makes some questionable decisions that irritate me when Im trying to run a clean race.

Other than that, Im definitely enjoying it so far. I like how I have incentive to turn off driver aids to gain more monies, thats for sure. None of that in GT5...

The only gripe I have is the same as all racing games. I clearly have the fastest car so it puts me in the back at start and by the first curve I'm playing bumper cars just to get through the crowd.

What bugs me about that the most is they obviously put their fastest car out front, and when you're stuck playing bumper cars getting through the pack, that front fast-as-fvck car is taking off like a bat out of hell.

I catch him on the next curve. They slow down away too much.

Yeah assuming turn 1 doesnt completely jack you up, I usually do too. Although it depends on the race.

Not quite. Right? You always get three race choices and at least one is for a car you own, but they can be races offered for a car you don't own. For example, I've been offered A races, but I own no A cars yet -- I could upgrade, but who upgrades from C to A.

The funny thing is the "customized to a car you own" function isn't always predictable. I was offered a race for a car I owned, but wasn't currently driving. So I go change into that car and that same race is not offered. :icon17:

Well I'm guessing I not going to need to worry too much about what classes I own. Some of my FMIII cars imported over, so I think I have most classes covered.

Hopefully that part gets better as the races get longer. With a short 2 lap races you basically have to be near the front of the pack after the first big corner to have a chance at catching that car up front.

My only real gripe is that if you take a corner like you should -- slow in, fast out -- you get rammed in the back by the AI. It's like they want every lap to be a late-braking-drift-around-the-corner-seat-of-the-pants sorta thing.

The AI in F3 were slow, but at least they were out of the way by midway through the first lap and you could concentrate on driving clean fast laps.

But you have a car capable of being upgraded, so yes, you do have something that fits the bill. IE, if you have no Mazda Roadster it wont offer the Mazda Roadster race....but if you have a C-spec MX-5 and its an A-spec race, its going to offer it. Not many Mazda roadsters out there in A-spec in stock form, so you're stuck upgrading lol.

What I DONT like is that when you go to upgrade by joining the race, your ONLY option is to automatically upgrade. And what dont they put in? A fvcking differential. I did that w/ my Fiesta and it was fast....or COULD have been if it was able to put the power down. I had to leave the race and put in a race differential, and man, it suddenly became a fast-as-fook car.

BTW, when a race is offered for a car you currently arent driving, just try to go into the race anyway. It'll pop up that you're driving the wrong car, and then give you the option to switch - thats the ONLY way to get the event that was offered. If you switch BEFORE attempting to join, yes, the events will change out.

Agreed, for the most part, if I make sure to run a clean race, I can catch up pretty quick.

But still its far easier to just rewind until you get turn 1 nailed pretty good and just go straight to 3rd or 2nd right off the bat, than struggling to catch up all race.

Well Ive found the AI does an interesting mix of VERY early braking, and ridiculously late braking lol. I saw some AI that was in 1st go WAY off track on the opening lap because of late braking...

Yea, but as you mentioned, the "in-race" upgrade menu is limited and I typically always upgrade to the full suspension and the diff. It's not a big deal especially since I'll race that race eventually via the event list, but it would be simple to program in a little memory and reflection:

Hmmm, I just offered race A that required car B, the driver just changed to car B, maybe I should include the race I just offered along with any new ones I figure out...

Yeah the method they use that automatically switches events whenever you change cars bugs the **** out of me lol. Seems silly.
