Post on Drunk driving

I got a story that I considered funny about drunk driving..and posted it..
I guess I just didn't think when I did that ...It was not intended to make fun of drinking and driving but I was just passing along something that had been sent to me intending humor. I thought I would pass it along to everyone here not really thinking much about it..
To anyone who was offended I offer my apologies and I ask the administrator to remove that entire post.
Again my apologies and lesson learned

We should never joke about anything because jokes are offensive and hurtful to people. Especially jokes encourage people to do the right thing are the most offensive of all.
People are too damn uptight.

:iagree: Every joke offends someone somewhere..... people need to learn to ease up...

Without taking any extreme point or insulting tact, there is a point that jokes are going to be offensive. At the same time, if you offend people, they're going to react.

I've offended a lot of people with my sense of humor, but I've made a lot of friends that way, too.

People can ease up or take offense. It doesn't matter one way or another. Don't take stuff personally on here, whether you're the offender or the offendee. And if something is TRULY out of bounds in your view, report it.

Ya, its always a touchy subject to make any jokes revolving around tipsy or drunk driving...even if you have no ill intents

I have a friend who always says he's the "best drunk driver ever" and that never goes over well. He just means even when tipsy, he's well mannered and controled but someone, somewhere will have a reason to be offended by that.

I got a good Asian joke today by the way lol

A few of my buddies got trashed one night and played a custom game online. I can't even remember the name of it but man it was fun!

However!!! LOL It did show me to never ever ever drink and drive. I almost died playing a video game

Not to be taken the wrong way, but the majority of people who have drinks drive. Look at every bar thats filled with people, ill tell ya now, they arent drinking apple juice in there lol. Hell, they even have drinking driving limits (0.08).

Its one thing to drink and drive sensibly, its another to be drunk and driving....

Sibze 09-15-2011 03:52 PM

RiCharlie, good on you to say your sorry but I'd lock this thread up. It's going to anyway. Lock it before people get upset

Me too. But I really watch my mouth a lot now. Which usually has me saying nothing.

The hole problem with a bar is that they have parking lots.

But the point is that (according to the law, don't blame me) when you get to that magic BAC number, you are now lacking in judgment to determine when you've hit your limit. So, because alcohol inhibits judgment, when do you reach the point where you are now drunk and can no longer "drive sensibly"? And even if you think you're at the point over the limit where you can still do that, alcohol consumption decreases motor function and response time, so if there is an emergency situation, you may not react in time to prevent it.

That's the theory, at least. The fact that people ignore the law doesn't make it right.

Zaggeron 09-15-2011 04:13 PM

Frankly I think that the cause of the impaired driving is irrelevant.

There should be a basic motor skills test that can be administered at any time. If someone cannot pass the test, then they are ticketed for impaired driving no matter what the cause -- tired, drunk, stressed ... who cares. They are impaired so they should not be on the road.

On the flip side, if you pass the test it doesn't matter if you're sober or have had half a dozen drinks, you have the required minimum skills to be allowed on the road.
