Netflix: 2011 Plan Changes
For those unaware, Netflix is changing its pricing plans soon.

Yep. I've already downgraded to no longer receiving movies by physical mail. I generally stream movies and tv shows more anyway. So I'll just save myself 2-3 bucks a month.
Wasn't impressed with the mail service anyway. They weren't sending me anything from the top of my queue, and only a few times did they send me Blu Ray, even though I had to pay extra for that. |
I'm also going to downgrade the account to streaming only.
Netflix's ultimate goal is to have all their content streaming, but they better get their act together because it seems I always find problems when I go to watch something. Subtitles missing..Missing audio tracks, etc. |

I just do the streaming now...its either get it on netflix or go to quicksilverscreen
|
I went from 3 movies to 2. I'd switch over completey, but the streaming quality sucks compared to bluray, especially with a projector. Not to mention the shitty B movies.
No wonder people are switching to other vendors. Stupid move on Netflix, which basically opens the door to other streaming services. |
Ive always done just streaming.

I'm dropping. Back to Bittorrent. Netflix had a great thing, but all good things must come to an end.
|
I will play the opposite, Netflix even with both plans (which I will be keeping) is still the best deal on the market for movie/TV shows. No cable, online provider, etc. has matched what Netflix offers currently. Will it stay this way forever? Probably not, but until then Netflix is still winning even with all the people leaving.
Also, this is in the end most not entirely Netflix's doing. The movie studios all have contracts up for renewal this year and have been demanding massive increases from Netflix to continue streaming/DVD service. |
Their profits have certainly already taken a huge hit. You've got people dropping the mail service, the streaming service, or netflix altogether. I only know a few people who are just sitting back and taking the price increase.
I still hope they succeed in the long run. They changed the game. Before them it was risky P2P or blockbuster. But I can't see the short-term logic in the move. |

Unfortunately I had to give up any illegal movie access or streaming, cannot take the risk anymore. |

But I do agree that they need to buff up their collection. For them to make this move, the words "Disc Only" should no longer appear ever. |
yea i'm a little upset about this but i agree, it's still the best deal on the market for what you get. i currently have the 1 disc unlimited streaming plan. i agree in order to drop the 1 disc plan, it'd be nice for them to get a better selection (and more in HD if possible!!). HD picture quality is pretty good for me but not quite as good as blu ray. it's usually better than my cable connection tho. i'm a home theater enthusiast tho so i feel like for the big budget action films, i want to see them on disc instead of streaming. i can tell the difference, my girlfriend can't tho.

I don't care much for big budget action films or graphically stunning movies, so it's no skin off my back. If I really want that, I'll just go to the IMAX when the movie comes out. |
I had unlimited on both, but dropped it all about three months ago. Their streaming content is crap no real choices and it seems like they only have a few copies of each dvd.
