I have a confession...

I am not going to get a 370z... I am buying an infiniti G37S...

lol, for now at least. I will be buying a Z once I get hired in california with a police department. My other car is taking a dive on me and I found a few used G37s's for under 30G. And since this will be replacing my family car I can't justify the two seats of the Z :'(.

So tell me, what does the Z community think of the G37s? is it worth the buy?

shadoquad 07-25-2011 09:10 PM

I like Gs. They're the Z's handsome bigger cousin.

:iagree: exept for the part about finding bigger cousins handsome.

SgtGoldy 07-25-2011 09:57 PM

Lol well good to know. As far as tracking (I might do it every once in a blue moon) will it keep up with the Z? Cuz that's what I'm use to and would hate to feel sluggish now.

It's a little heavier but still does respectably well. Won't hold with the Z in the corners unless you bolt on some serious rubber but still plenty of fun. Same oil cooler requirements apply. Nothing wrong with the G37, had a G35 back when I needed a fun family friendly vehicle.

Cmike2780 07-25-2011 10:13 PM

A coworker let me drive her G37s. I really liked it actually. Wont turn too many heads, but def a drivers car.

Red__Zed 07-25-2011 10:15 PM

I like the g37 a lot. Fun car for sure.

SgtGoldy 07-25-2011 10:21 PM

Cool guys, you all got me excited now lol. Gonna save up a bit more for a bigger down payment and then I'll post up sum pics once it's all said and done. Hell I might even show up to the Orange County Z meets ;)

b1adesofcha0s 07-25-2011 10:58 PM

G37S is an awesome car! Are you getting the coupe or sedan? I would have gotten the coupe myself if my parents hadn't let me get the Z.

Good luck with the purchase man, definitely looking forward to the pics

wilsonp 07-25-2011 11:11 PM

I think the G37 is great, as long as it's a coupe. I think the sedan gives up too much looks.

MC 07-25-2011 11:12 PM

i like the G37...but would only purchase the IPL.. its got just enough extra to make it stand out

SgtGoldy 07-25-2011 11:14 PM

IPL? I'll have to google that. And yes, coupe. Like wilsonp said, it gives up too much in the looks department.

Says the guy with the 2012 GT-R Black Edition :bowrofl:

I don't think the IPL is worth the extra money, but I haven't even seen one in person. I guess if you're buying new than it's not as big of a deal, but OP was looking at a used one for under $30k so it would be a big difference in cost.

Think of it as the Nismo version of the G37. Body kit, interior, a bit of a power increase, and some suspension improvements.

lol yea, and with all my requirements (1 owner over 30yrs of age, no accidents, only minor repairs, and under 30,000miles) I'm thinking its gonna be a bit hard to find the perfect one (not too bad but not easy)

When I was looking at cars back in December/January, the really good ones started around $32k and probably fit all your criteria. That was for the 7AT, if you want the 6MT it would be a little cheaper. I don't know how the prices have changed since then though.

Nick911sc 07-26-2011 08:49 AM

My girlfriend drives a G37 sedan and I can't complement the car enough. Basically a 4 door Z! I could only imagine the coupe would be that much closer to the Z in terms of handling and performance.

Enjoy the car!

SgtGoldy 07-26-2011 09:24 AM

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the input and help. I'll keep everyone updated

Isamu 07-26-2011 09:37 AM

good luck man! you are making a wise choice!

Synack 07-26-2011 11:30 AM

I like G's too. They're the more responsible older brother that never had that much fun in college.

Gonna test drive her Wed. Taking a little trip to San Diego for fun. Thought i'd drop by here and see if she's a fit for me =D. Wanna talk em down in price though. It is a 2008 so its a bit old.

I thought CarMax's gig was that they don't budge on price. Good luck, though

Oh really? Lol! well then maybe I won't get a lower price :ughdance:

m4a1mustang 11-15-2011 08:03 AM

Yeah, no negotiating at Carmax.

ClemsonWill 11-15-2011 08:30 AM

Yeah, they dont' budge at all. I have tried several times even on things other than the price like extended warranties, accessories, etc. It's a pretty car though. You should snatch it up.

SgtGoldy 11-16-2011 12:46 AM

I might not even give it a chance then. I have two dealerships around my area with the same load out of that G with around similar miles for 25,999.99. And at least I can negotiate em down lol
