The clock doesn't actually start until you leave the line. If I were going for a best ETA and not racing someone else, I wouldn't watch the light either. I would take my time to make sure I was at the right RPM for a perfect launch.

You are correct sir, I was thinking about reaction time (racing) and not a timed run

Yeah I don't know if you can get much faster than that, though I know it's a goal of theirs...
